Hmm... it is this just a matter of getting a sim tray that can accompdate the two sims.

From a production standpoint, I would find it too costly for the phones to have different hardware.

Lol actually no. Before I imported a dual sim Xr from Hong Kong, I ordered a dual sim tray for my Xs Max. It arrived couple of days ago and I can tell you it doesn't work. It read the sim on the top but not the one at the bottom

That’s a pity as I’m waiting for the dual Sim tray to arrive - thought it was worth trying as the eSim option is so limiting. I thought Apple wanted to help people switch between carriers, not the opposite! This move has given the carriers much more power, no subsidiaries are using eSim and the few main carriers (worldwide) are limiting it to monthly contracts only, which are obviously no good if you’re travelling. In my opinion this (no true dual Sim phones in most of the world) is the worst decision Apple has made in years - far worse than removing the headphone jack which was an easy work around.

Hey guys how much is Customs Duty cost for buying a iPhone XS/XR Dual sim via one of the eBay sellers that ship from Singapore or HK. Thinking of picking up a XR or XS with one of the eBay 10% off coupons (up to $100USD), XS MAX 256 is costing me $1414 after 10% (Max $100USD off) coupon. But wondering how much the import tax is going to be..
