All you got to do is go to the Fitbit support forum and see the horror these people are going through. Hardware failures among Fitbit still rule.
I have both an AW58 and a FitBit Versa 2. FitBit's battery life is incredible. So are their prices compared to any offerings by Apple. I can mix and match, but each pairing integrates do a different degree.
I wear my Versa 2 when I'm using my Google Pixel 5.

This is my second FitBit Versa 2. The first one froze up during charging and was unrecoverable. I emailed FitBit about it and they sent me a brand new one for free. Didn't even want the old one back.
Interestingly, about one week ago I went the other way around LOLAs a smartwatch, the Apple Watch blows Fitbit out of the water . . .
As a Fitness/Health tracker, Fitbit blows Apple Watch out of the water . . .
About two weeks ago I replaced my AW5 with a Fitbit Charge 5 and I’m happier than snot. 😊

As long as you enjoy and like it, that’s all that matters.I like my Charge 5. Works for me and I use the GPS to track my runs when I jog. Awesome battery life and does what I need it to do for a fitness tracker.
On the Charge 5, it vibrates to let you know a call is coming in. It also features notifications from texts, calendars, and many other apps at the user’s discretion. Referring to my OP, the Apple Watch blows Fitbit out of the water as a smartwatch, however Fitbit provides a more complete fitness/health package.‘How good does the phone function work on a Fitbit?😮
