Agreed....
My point is when Samsung does the Alpha...it is copying Apple....when Apple does larger screen iDevices..... why it is not the same? Why is it ok on one side but not he other?

Samsung is, no doubt, trying to appeal to iPhone owners with the Alpha. Perfectly understandable. Perfectly reasonable. Many many MANY companies do this. Car companies, food (McD's might've made the burger famous. BK, Wendys, etc. followed suit. Perfectly reasonable), clothing companies, I mean, I can probably go on and on. All companies imitate, mimic, try to capture a successful idea or theme. They all do this in their respective categories.
They'd be stupid not to.
It's called competition. You can call it copying too if people want, but if you want to do that, I agree with you -- it goes both ways.
If you ask me, it'd be stupid not to try to address what the market wants. I can say it's stupid for Apple to not release a larger device just as I can (and have) said that it's stupid for Samsung not to build more premium products.
People in both camps win.
Anyway... back to the iPad 12".

The bolded phrases are not mutually exclusive. I agree with you.
But following what everyone in the industry is doing is different than specifically offering a product with details outside of your normal products that mirror a competitors.
That's all.....not sure what about this is so hard to grasp.

I totally agree with you! it is following the market trends. This happens in every product space/category everywhere. The same could be said about targeted ads as well. The Cortana/Siri ads are funny! I also love the Nokia WP8 commercials pitting Samsung and Apple fans against each other! This is business as usual all over the world everyday.

Yeah. And it's not like Samsung only copies, as some people think. They've done some amazing things on their own that, as you have pointed out, others are actually copying -- even Apple. Gasp.
They have every right to be where they. The Alpha doesn't encapsulate all that Samsung has to offer. If only HTC and Motorola and others could have made as smart moves/decisions as Samsung did, a lot of them wouldn't be in such hot mess.
I really hope Motorola succeeds with the X+1 and the 360.
I think you probably prefer this: "Apple does it so its ok!"

Samsung is damned if they do, damned if they don't. In the Alpha thread... the moment they offer a smaller device, reigned in specs, more premium build -- things you said you wanted them to do -- your first post and response is "LMAO".
Damned if they do, damned if they don't. It'd be different (even better) if you just admitted this, but somehow you actually think you're being fair. Like this is actually in the interest of HTC or Motorola, or something.

When Samsung does it... Shame on Samsung. Sloppy! Rushed! They just want to check off another box on the features-list!
When Apple does it (like Siri voice activation being only usable in the car)... Guys, don't worry! "This is a rare case of Apple putting the cart before the horse. Not necessarily a bad thing!"

Copying?
When Samsung does it... "LMAO", Samsung can only steal and copy from their main competitor. They don't know how to innovate on their own. Heck, they even steal ideas based off rumors on Apple devices that don't exist yet! Yes, that's right: evil magical reverse-copying!
When Apple does it... Guys, Apple isn't copying because they're implementing the same feature in a different way! (Yeah, Samsung is implementing fingerprint sensor in a "different way" too. And given the OS' different natures, duh they'd be implemented in a "different way". I had to teach Jrswizzle what the definition of 'copying' meant one time, that copying doesn't necessarily have to mean from the original source).
Or Apple's just following the natural trend of what's popular! Give them a break! Stop creating this faux-narrative or something!
Future-proofing specs?
When Samsung does it or the general Android OEM's do it... "Why?? What for?? It's overkill, man!" Best specs just for the sake of saying best specs. Reign in their hardware!
When Apple does it... Future proofing! Forward thinking! (Even though 64-bit processor has virtually no usage today nor for the past year-ish the latest iPhone's been out. And there have been articles that say the majority of apps in the App Store do not take advantage of Apple's powerful A-processors). Go, Apple!

When Apple allows third party keyboards... yes, choices and features. I can get swipe now!
When Android allows third party ANYTHING, including keyboards... no, no, finding a third party option isn't simple. It's a time waster! Takes too long to find the right one. Third party apps allow Google to be lazy about their default apps!

We used to use Galaxy tabs at work for sales staff and for exhibition information points, but found them unreliable and glitchy. The iPads are more expensive and can be a nightmare getting permission on certain applications but for basic tasks they are a vast improvement.
In personal life I am not a power user. I use a tablet as a tablet for surfing the web, checking social media, emails, YouTube, calendar, iMessage, FaceTime, and Skype. I use my laptop for multitasking and demanding tasks etc. I think most tablets sold are used lightly so can't understand why some people feel they need to perform like a laptop to be taken seriously? Each to their own I suppose, but both products do the job, it's just how well you want them to do it.

I love my Note 10.1 2014, but Samsung support thus far has been terrible. My Note 10.1, updated to KitKat 4.4.2, has an issue where if I pull down the notification bar while doing a Chromecast, I get a message saying systemui has stopped. The only way to get the tablet back then is to reboot the tablet.
Searching around, this seems to be a problem across all Samsung tablets that have updated to 4.4.2. The root cause appear to be the way that Samsung implemented the notification bar in Touchwiz.
Numerous Galaxy tablet owners, including myself, have complained to Samsung support. But Samsung does not even acknowledge that the issue exists. They keep pushing it on Google.
Even my Nook Color and HP TouchPad from 4 years back have no problem with Chromecast, but I cannot use my shiny new Samsung tablet.
Very disappointed with Samsung on this front.

I dont have this issue (tab s 10.5) but I wish I could cast my screen like my S5 can.
I tinkered around with some launchers on my Moto X. Launchers offer a ridiculous amount of customization.
Nova is incredible.

Samsung have only themselves to blame when it comes to people seeing them as copycats. They went after Apple's market, and they went after it hard- you only have to look at that long document that leaked in the Samsung vs Apple court battle from a few years ago to see just how much what Apple does influences Samsung's decision making when it comes to their mobile devices.
And hey, it's worked out for them pretty well, but you can't blame people (especially Apple fans on an Apple product-centric website) for being somewhat suspicious of Samsung's motives when they've based their decision making so heavily around Apple's devices in the past.

I agree with just about everything you said. Apple with the iPhone is the market leader. They have the single best selling phone in the world. As with all market leaders....they get imitated. Companies want to try to emulate their products success. This happens with all products......everywhere.

I respect your choice of tablet and think it's great that people are enjoying tablets other than iPads these days. However, I am one of those people who still love the 4:3 format on a tablet. It just makes the web browsing experience optimal in both portrait and landscape. So there's that and the fact that ipad still is far superior in optimized apps. I hope that the android side catches up though! I've been interested in a Nexus 7 as a "secondary" tablet.
