Disagree. The display of the s5 is better all around. I had no problems with it in the sun.

I returned my s5 and went back to my 5s, a while back. I couldn't deal with the random problems and lag the phone had... That and 16gb wasn't enough. The phone had so much potential though, and wasn't as bad as you make it out to be. The s5 was superior on many fronts, the battery being a big one.

Guess if it was that good you would of kept it, random problems and lag, sounds familiar.
Potential is a bit late for a $800 plus phone, maybe next years S6.
Sounds like i made it out to be for the same problems you had.

Battery is good although takes so long to charge.

Agree completely. I returned it on my 14 th day. I was disagreeing with the screen... Which was great.

I agree on all other aspects.

Personally... I am planning on the iphone 6 and settling in. The only thing can't could move me would be a cheaper, but comparable nexus 6 running android l.

But I won't get my hopes up. I want a complete, painless phone. That has always been the iphone, no matter how often I have tried something else.

I am a neurobiology researcher that demands a lot from his technology. The "limited" nature of ios has never bothered me enough to matter. It more than makes up for it In other ways.

Anandtech said otherwise

As i have stated off a macbook pro 5S is way faster, i did both for a month, reviews are rubbish as they don't have real day to day use. Did they charge off a macbook everyday for a month?
How how many charges did they do, how old were the phones, in wall charge, usb charge, it goes on and on.

Battery drain on S5 is way worse then 5S, so battery maybe bigger but not sure about lasting any longer. My 5S will stay at 100% overnight. S5 used to drop up to 30% overnight, keep killng those apps.

See the problem here Robster, is you have nothing but your word to back up what you are saying. Did you even own a S5? How would we know?

Anand Lal Shimpi, and the others who test products for a living, well, they're just a little more credible than you.

I'm guessing you are probably using the super speed USB (aka usb 3.0) port to charge your phone right? If so, that might explain why you are getting a faster charge, maybe?
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4049

But that's a pretty damned expensive phone charger and not good for a direct comparison. I can connect my phone to my PC using a usb 3.0 cable, as the Samsung supports usb 3.0
The international Galaxy S5 comes with a usb 2.0 charger and cable.

As for the discharge rate, well, I'll take Anand's opinion yours, I'm sure you can appreciate that eh? He's an expert...

My phone is usually on charge overnight (I don't use it while sleeping) so it doesn't discharge until I unplug it in the morning and start using it.
The battery life, for me , is better than my Note 3 was, I leave the screen at 100%, wifi stays on, data on, everything on. I still get home from work with 50 -70 battery left, usually.

Ha ha I got you, I never owned a S5::)

And yeah I spent 2K on a MBPr just to charge my phones, some people:p

Of course it charged your iPhone faster as it's designed to provide more power to Apple devices

Good, glad we got that sorted, thought i was going mad spreading all these lies:)

Most Android phones will use USB charging mode and limit the current to 500ma when they sense the two data connectors on a USB port.

If these two connectors are shorted the phone goes into AC charging mode and pulls more current, usually ~1AMP

You can go into the phone under battery from memory and it shows which charging mode it is using. Many of the crappy car chargers need the two data connectors to be shorted so the phone will pull the full current.

Wrong, My 5S charges at 1% a minute off my MBPr, 1 hour faster than this graph, proves my point.

What proves your point? Your S5 is probably only pulling 500mA from the USB port on your Macbook and the power adapter provided by Samsung is 2A so should be much faster.

'Prove your point'??? You've lost all your credibility already!
I'd take Anandtech's words over yours anytime.

Some machines have more powerful ports that can push more amps to charge faster. So not exactly a fair comparison.

I hook up my HTC M8 straight to the power grid that feeds my house.......charges in 5 minutes! :D /s
