Hopefully next monday, some new Macbook Pros with meroms will be released. What do people expect as far as specs and pricing goes. I know they will probably just bump the processor to 2.33, but thats a pretty lame update..

They definately should add a FW800 to it, and better cooling.

So, after the merom is out, what are we anticipating for the next revision?

People are crying for merom to come out yet you want to anticipate whats after it? :D

Yes...i just dont see merom as that big of an upgrade...its what, 100 Mhz faster??

Thats not a big deal to me...

I want something cosmetically changed as well as Graphics card update!!!!!!

I am just thinking ahead...

Does anyone actually have any speculation?

Well, I think that prices will remain the same.

Specs are likely to be-
15" 2.16GHz Core 2 Duo
15" 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo
17" 2.33GHz Core 2 Duo

I doubt that we will see faster video cards in the MacBook Pros (as evidenced by the 20" iMac C2D using the same Radeon X1600 as it's predecessor).

Nothing to get real excited about if you ask me. :D
Well there's more to it than that, but I was referencing the title, which only refers to the processor. The next revision will also have the Santa Rosa chipset, etc., etc..

I realize that there will be more to it than the faster fsb, but updates to the MacBook(Pro) line are going to be more incremental than before. The huge leap in notebook performance occured when Apple switched from PowerPC G4 chips to Intel's Core Duo. :)

ahhh! too many code names! merom... santa rosa... penryn...! they're all fast, just go buy one!

actually its a huge update for a laptop cpu...

Core Duo:
- 2mb cache
- 32bit

Core 2 Duo:
- 4 mb cache
- 64bit
- Slightly faster clock speed

Hello Nehalem.

I'd like magnetic latching
DL SuperDrive
FW800
More USB ports
ExpressCard 54
Larger display opening angle
Improved ventilation/cooling system

There thats it, not much is it

If they just put merom into the machines and don't change the design like some of the ideas pointed above I don't think it will be worth it. (Not that I'm buying one) But to others anyway

I too only think that the processor will get an upgrade. As for the casing, a magnetic latch and that will be it.

I heard they are going to integrate the Apple Phone into the next next revision of MBP:rolleyes:

That's a matter of perspective. I'm buying the C2D, regardless of those features. Of course, I'm coming from a 1GHz PB 12".

Don't foget the new SSE4 instruction set.

Either that or somewhat of a pricedrop would be nice. When you really think about it, the MBPs are kindof overpriced compared to other mac laptops and mostly comparable PC laptops.

Sooo....

So my full touch screen, 120gb Merom WifIpod arrived today and Leopard is giving a hard time with the blu-ray....

lol
