Strange that for all their speed/power/utility, and so forth, the outward form of the personal computer is still a hybrid typewriter/t.v.
I wonder when that will be swept away.
I'm guessing brain implants will have something to do with it.

Goodbye Merom, hello... kitty?

If you want to know what is next, call up the articles on the next chipset for use with Merom...

It isn't like updates will be in the dark these days, the magic 8-ball can be loaded by anybody that can google Intel mobile chipsets.

For wireless, it is a tossup -- broadcom, can't remember the current portable one, or Intel (which is a longshot.) But most have announced that the next gen wireless is nearing production.

You just better hope that those implants synch with a Mac, having your brain fried because of overexposure to Windows notorious BOD would not be a good thing! ;) :D

I've been sick...

Here have some Merom

Additionally, has anyone seen anything beyond dual core in Intel's mobile roadmap? I sure as hell haven't.

/me is sick too.

beyond dual core, not really. We do see the 45nm transition and expanded L2, but nothing beyond that at this point until they can figure out some fun with thermal constraints. Hopefully they'll work their black magic and we'll have 4 cores eventually.

Well, here's to hoping for a desktop chip back in the iMac.
