readdledocs is slow, unresponsive when rendering pictures and slow with PDFs as well. not to mention that it almost never gets updated.

I have to disagree with you. ReaddleDocs might be a bit slower on rendering pictures, but for files it might be even faster than GR (depending on file).
We produce update regularly to all our apps. Have a look at this: http://appshopper.com/business/readdledocs-for-ipad

I think the Readdle apps are good, and had been using them up until the file sync feature arrived in both GR and Readdle - it's much quicker and more stable in GR so I swapped over. And while I think the UI of PDF Expert is lovely, I really don't like the UI of Readdledocs. All just my opinion.

I've tried both GR and iFiles, and am sticking with GR for a couple of reasons:

1. The file sync option so I can keep Dropbox files in sync natively on my iPad
2. Annotation means I don't need yet another app for annotating pdfs
3. Using g: in web addresses to download files from Safari

...but correct me if iFiles does have these features?

However, I really wish GR would get a UI overhaul and would let me work with the file system on cloud storage - would like to be able to organised folders in my Dropbox account like I could with Airsharing...

Sorry, you can't annotate within ZenViewer, yet. Great interface but is still lacking some features.

I have been using filebrowser for a day or two and love it. Super easy to setup and access files that are stored on my computers.

I have mentioned this in a few other threads already but since it was brought up here I thought I would mention it here also.

can you explain me how does filebrowser works?

FileBrowser is the only SMB sharing app as far as I know, or at least the best.

Basically, it allows you to mount any PC or Mac on a wireless network, or a file server (even a USB disk attached to an AirPort Extreme router). This gives you Finder-style access on the iPad to files on your computer or wireless file server.

I simply plugged a usb drive into my Airport Extreme and thanks to FileBrowser, it became a low-rent wireless file server for my iPad. FileBrowser can then access any of those files over the wifi network and hand them off to your appropriate apps via an "Open With" feature.

It's like DropBox for a local wifi network using your own computers or network attached hard drives.

From all of these apps which one is the best to download pdf's from a website and read them later? (it's a complicated website because even safari can't download them, i tried the app "downloads for ipad" and it worked)

If the app have a nice UI and dropbox sync it would be even better.

Couldn't have said it better. This app is freaking great by the way. Well worth the $3.99 price tag. I now have access to all the files I need and I do not have to store them on my iPad unless I want to.

Have you tried GoodReader and its method of putting g in front of the URL in a web browser?

I have GoodReader, ReaddleDocs, and iFiles. I was really happy with the ReaddleDocs, but I was having difficulty keeping track of all the files (100's) that I was accumulating for reference and review (in lots of folders and subfolders). I switched to GR because it has the ability to Star files and then tap "Find Files" "Starred" and get a filtered list of your Starred files. It also gives you a list of recently read or recently added files. I wish it would let you use different colors to star documents for different tracking purposes. Additionally, I like its pdf annotation features of GR better than ReaddleDocs.

I purchased iFiles just for the Bluetooth file transfer ability. I use it to transfer files from my iPhone to my iPad (WiFi only) when I don't have access to WiFi and want to work with a document that I just received in email on my iPhone. It was worth the price just for the Bluetooth file transfer capability.

Which Apps does this?

I've got an SMB share on my NAS with some html files. This is not currently on a webserver so I don't believe Safari can open these files.

Can any of these Apps access and open the html? I understand that Filebrowser allows "Open With" but will this just pass the one file or can it reference the images in the html page that as in the same directory?

If not how about GoodReader or ReaddleDocs?

Thanks.

I haven't done this before, but if you are opening up an html doc if the coding is right and the image files/css etc are in the right directories then it should render the file correctly.
