That's exactly my point. It can be done on Android but a user will need to do research, figure out what apps they will need and then try to make it work with iTunes. Lots of layers there and it doesn't sound like an integrated experience.
On my iPhone or iPad you literally have iTunes store running on your phone. You can rent/buy/preview movies on the fly, no need to connect to a computer with iTunes. You can also preview/buy songs. The next time you connect your iPhone/iPad to your computer, all the stuff will transfer over automatically to all the rest of your apple devices. All of a sudden I have that song that I bought on my phone on all my Macs and my Apple TV and my iPad. Now that is simple, sweet, and integrated![]()
Well... I mean, it's just a matter of searching for an application that does what you need... it's not that hard and it's not like you have to spend hours on it, just make a google search or a search on the market... Once the app is installed, everything is automatic...
As for movies, those can't be bought over here with iTunes, but I don't mind, I can just rip my dvd or directly copy a movie I recorded from the TV and don't even have to convert it to work... just plug, drag and drop and it's there... Anyone that has copied files on a computer shouldn't have any trouble doing it... BTW, I think Missing Sync does work to sync movies so it may even be simpler than that (haven't used that feature myself yet).
I'm not saying the iTunes on all devices model is bad, just saying using Android with a Mac computer is easy and automatic, and ok, so I can't buy iTunes songs from my phone... I don't care much about that as I rarely buy from there anyway, but there are many other payed services to get music from the Android phone anyway for people that want to do it... If Apple doesn't want to release a version of iTunes for Android that's their loss but complaining about that is just like saying your favorite Windows app doesn't work on Macs... that's up to the developers...
And on another note, what's with all the complains that there are phones that will never be upgraded to the latest version being sold right now? What phones are those? The ones that come installed with 2.1 are all being updated and at least around where I live I can't find phones with earlier versions (1.6 and lower).
And you can always install the upgrade yourself... That's the beauty of the platform being open
