Google today at its I/O developer conference unveiled a range of new Pixel devices that will compete with Apple products, including Pixel Buds Pro.

Pixel Buds Pro are Google's new premium wireless earbuds with similar features as AirPods Pro, including active noise cancellation, a Transparency mode that lets ambient noise in, hands-free "Hey Google" voice control, automatic switching between previously paired Bluetooth devices, integration with Google's Find My Device app for tracking their location when misplaced, and spatial audio support starting later this year.

Pixel Buds Pro adapt to your ear with a Silent Seal feature that maximizes noise cancellation, while built-in sensors measure the pressure in your ear canal to make sure they are comfortable to wear during long listening sessions, according to Google.

Pixel Buds Pro can be paired with any Bluetooth 4.0+ device, making them compatible with devices like the Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. They charge wirelessly in a case and offer up to 11 hours of listening time per charge, or up to seven hours with active noise cancellation enabled. The case can also be charged via USB-C.

Pixel Buds Pro will be available to pre-order on July 21, with pricing set at $199 in the U.S., compared to $249 for AirPods Pro. The earbuds are designed with a soft matte finish and are available in four color options: Coral, Lemongrass, Fog, and Charcoal.

AirPods Pro have not received any hardware updates since they were first released in October 2019. Rumors suggest that second-generation AirPods Pro will be released later this year with an upgraded wireless chip, motion sensors for fitness tracking capabilities, and potentially a more compact design similar to the Beats Studio Buds.

They announced a lot of things today, the Pixel Watch looked the most interesting, the Pixel 7 is an expected upgrade, these ear buds are just like Apples in features, and they showed a new Pixel tablet coming out sometime next year that looked like the most boring generic design I’ve seen!
It was very tiresome watching the event with all the Google staff cheering and wooing and clapping every 5 seconds.

Oh and they are finally going to make Android more tablet specific at last. But not too much, bit like Apple really.

Some good step forwards for Google but I just hope they carry it on and don’t keep improving

Always remember, these headphones can be listening to you and stealing your information! After all, it is made by Google....

Always remember, Apple is restructuring to drive advertising revenue in a bigger way. Best way to make the most money with that is to "listen," build intelligence on individuals so that advertisers can target messages specifically at relevant prospects. After all, Apple sure likes them record revenues from services.

An exceptional way to do this is to cut off all of the other players from having easy ways to build up information on the Apple user database... then do the same yourself... and thus be able to spin the proposition that only Apple has the very best profiles on Apple people. Buy now from the only source... and pay a premium for the only game in (this) gigantic, lucrative town.

But of course, Apple would NEVER choose an exclusive on incredible money over user privacy... so much money that pinching off advertising data from others caused behemoths like Facebook and Google, etc tangible, sizable revenue pain.

We'll see on that. Remember, they killed Watch OS and their tablet years ago. They could just as easily do so again. And because of that, most developers aren't going to bother investing resources in apps for the tablet or watch. So you end up with a Windows Phone problem. No one wants to develop for it because there are no users, and no users want to buy it because there are no apps.

Google has too much cancel culture and it's scared many developers away. I'm not going to develop for something they may randomly stop updating after a year or less.

LOL. You're purely guessing here. Telling people to worry about something that doesn't yet exist, rather than something that's true currently.

I'm more worried about racism in this country than an asteroid hitting the planet tomorrow. One is actively an issue right now, while the other we don't have any indication will happen and until we do it's silly to waste time worrying about.

But great job trying to distract from the original issue. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

These are the Google version of the Beats Fit Pro for the same price, not the AirPods Pro. The Beats don't have wireless charging but they add likely better water resistance and a more secure fit. Nice to have options but I can't see how automatic switching will work as well considering the sparse amount of Google hardware, at the moment.
