Nearly every time I open the Google app on my iPhone I notice that the Apple Watch displays the Now Playing screen with “Google” in the title and with the pause button showing as if it is playing something. (See picture.) Anybody know why this is happening?

If there is any app playing music or video, either on your watch or from your iPhone/iPad, Apple Watch will display this control. Sometimes it shows app name, sometimes it shows the actual detail of the media if applicable.

This happens just by opening the Google app on my iPhone. I don’t even have to do a search. Maybe there is a video story in one of the “cards” but I’m not actually playing anything.

I still think this is odd behavior. One opens the Google app and somehow this launches the Now Playing screen on the Apple Watch. And it appears to be playing something and you cannot pause it. Why does the watch think an audio file is playing?
