Because Google now competes in some of the same arenas must automatically mean Schmidt was only there to spy. Of course every idea and company direction was stolen during his tenure on the board...

Talk about baseless accusations.

...these guys have multiple investments in other areas that is pure profit.

hmm, do you have any investments? Every investment I have has required a large some of money for a very small return. There is no such thing as pure profit with investments. If it's pure profit, then it's not an investment.

Eric Schmidt is a pretty smart guy. I subscribe to channels on YouTube where he gives a lot of high-level talks on green power. He has a lot of vision and with his role in Google, he can put some of his theories to test.

I admire him because he seems very practical. I am far from being an environmentalist or anything, but the types of things he's talking about are real-world examples that are achievable without sacrificing our way of life.

As much as people bash on Google, remember that you are the ones who gave them the power they have, and with your fingertips, you can take it away. They provide a wealth of free services that are very useful, but with that use, they gather information that can be sold. If you don't like their power, you can always stop using their services. So don't complain.

That's not what I was referring to. I was using profit in relation to their other positions where said CEO was talking a salary of 1 dollar. It obviously implied that said investment actually make money, but that money is more than they make compared to their salary. If any of their investments make money - its a profit when you look at the fact that they make essentially zero salary.

Of course I also said that they receive compensation as well.

He didn't need to get paid, he just had to sit on the meetings to help come up with ideas for Google's next product.

Exactly. It's not necessarily about the money. It's about conflict of interest, antitrust, and the law. Apple was wise to accept his resignation. Schmidt was wise to step down.
