Google chat in Gmail?

Will the iPhone support the embedded google chat feature of gmail? I know it supports gmail, but will google chat work? Or does that need java?

if you goto http://google.com/talk/ there already is a web base chat-only client (conveniently already sized up for the iphone)

I've been using that at work for months tho - Works well, should work awesome for the iphone.

Doesn't the embedded chat feature of gmail use AJAX? While that web chat that ymilord linked to is Flash, I don't see why the AJAX chat in Gmail wouldn't work...
