I would never buy into this lie that they are telling us. One of the biggest spy firms in the world is blocking ads.
It's not really an ad blocker...it just will filter what ads you get
Clever stuff Google...
Of course, it won't block Google ads, the most common ad on the entire internet by far. Just ads from others. Could certainly be an anti-trust suit there for doing so.
I just want no ads, period, and will use whatever tools available to block anything I can. BTW, Google's doubleclick.net is already redirected to 0.0.0.0 in my hosts file.Am I the only person who would be happy to have Google ads and other non-intrusive stuff and get rid of autoplaying videos with sound (I'm looking at you, cnn.com) and "XXX GIRLS WAITING HERE FOR YOU CLICK CLICK AND HERE IS A PREVIEW OF THEIR BOOBS, WE HOPE YOUR PARENTS ARE LOOKING"?
Well, all of Google's ads conform to those standards, right? Their conformity actually puts them at a disadvantage compared to more aggressive/sketchy advertisers, in a way, unless people start blocking those. They're trying to police the other advertisers... which I am all for EDIT: as long as they don't abuse it (which they might).Actually no. Google will outsource the decision making.

People like to just bash Google without looking at the facts. The decisions made in the link above are for the user benefit.
If it leads to a cleaner and smoother browsing experience, doesn't matter to me who's ads are being shown. I like this!
I'm old enough to remember TV sans ads ..........but that was before electricity. Not sure if you're old enough to remember YouTube, sans ads... but trust me: it was a MUCH better experience.

Well, then... you're DEFINITELY their "target audience"!
Lol, however- the rest of us would prefer less ads, or no ads... not just a ton of "smooth" ads from Google.

I personally can't imagine someone feeling like: "hey, these tons of annoying YouTube ads aren't so bad... they're so smooth!!! Honestly, this is just as good as, if not better than- no ads at all!".
But hey, it takes all kinds.

* I remember downloading mods on Minecraft Forum, and modmakers would always complain about people blocking ads in their Adfly links. Well, I tried unblocking them once, and I got sent to a fake Flash installer that immediately dropped a DMG into my downloads and spammed me with Javascript dialogs. So... nope, never again.
AdBlock, AdBlock Plus, and others are already like this until you disable the default "allow non-intrusive ads" option. So they allow "non-intrusive" (aka Google) ads by default, as if that's what anyone wants when they're downloading an ad blocker. I'll bet Google paid them off; not saying it's unethical because I'd do it too in their position. It's not really an ad blocker...it just will filter what ads you get

Yes. As annoying as the bad ads are, many aren't illegal AFAIK. Their advertisers have equal rights, and I expect they'd have grounds to sue. Even MacKeeper and Conduit are actual corporations with rights despite that they exist purely to f*** up people's computers with malware. This is the problem I thought of. Google can't block all ads because that's their core business. If Google only serves "good" ads and blocks "bad" ads, then they are blocking competitors and, in their position dominating the browser market, that's a huge anti-trust problem for them I would think.
Many websites currently rely on ads to exist, so I would hope that only the tech-savvy users are blocking them. And some people know about ad blockers but don't mind the ads enough to bother.Well, then... you're DEFINITELY their "target audience"!
