Some of comments here really amaze me. How can people be so ignorant?

Good lord! Some people aren't following the minutiae of unending patent litigation and have some questions or (*extra gasp*) misunderstandings on the technical aspects of the case!

Alert the Macrumors patent-trial-ignorance police immediately!

Ah, I see, you are talking about jobs, well that's the capitalist world you live in buddy, they move all manufacturing to the cheapest place on the planet, then charge you the consumer maximum mark ups, result is massive profit, capitalism at it's very best.

Thankfully, for the whole, where Macs are made they are made pretty well, although I would like a Mac Pro and think it would be nice to have something assembled in America, and I'm British!

As for the upgrades, Apple are the only ones that drop support for your Mac in OSX, thus if you want the latest version you have to upgrade, and Macs aren't cheap. Not to mention iOS devices which are even worst as you'll need to run the latest iOS eventually to get the apps you want.
Upgrading PC's are a lot cheaper.

Correction, that's a lassez faire non-regulated oligopolist world we are being tortured by, in the early 21st century. The same one TR vehemently despised in 1904 who then so famously created a fair and level field of regulations, while actually being funded by Congress to enforce said regulations.

The single quickest way to get US Corporations back on US Soil is to destroy those asinine tax loop-holes [even my own investments of zero taxes is absurd, yet I don't have billions stored in tax free market accounts, never mind trillions] and actually rewrite Corporate C, S, LLC and Non-Profit rules.

Corporations will on-shore in droves. They sure won't jump to China or any other third world dump they're presently leveraging. They presently do so, because they are still protected and recognized by the US Federal Government as US entities.

But off-shoring jobs aside, Google's run will be far shorter than Microsoft's and it will be more painful to investors, when it collapses, and it will collapse.

----------

People here are so anti-Samsung they never caught the fact that Apple was suing Samsung to attack Google indirectly. Now that Google has stepped up to the plate we now have Google haters in the house. And because Google is covering 4 out of the 5 patents I'm not sure if people can continue to call Samsung copycats. I see this war between Apple and Google and that will spoil the relationship.
So I guess now people here are going to close down their Gmail accounts, not use Google maps, avoid YouTube and not visit Google.com. The hate runs deep here so I wouldn't be surprised.

You sue whomever is implementing your IP illegally. Google's tiered licensing structure leaving Google vulnerable to competitor lawsuits is Google's concern and not the competitor(s).

Haha haha haha haha seriously? A major AMERICAN corporation is totally Anti American.... hahaha

And Apple is one of the most anti consumer companies around. What with its way to force you to upgrade at maximum cost.

I didn't realize Apple put guns to people's heads to get them to upgrade. In fact, I do believe iPhone users got 3 major software upgrades while most Android users are forced to buy a new phone if they want the latest version of Android when it's released.

Is it really? I had a Samsung Galaxy S2 that I was having a problem with, no one did give a sh>>! Neither the mobile network three who was asking me to contact Samsung, neither Samsung who was asking me to contact the network provider three! It toke me over 35 days to send it back, get replacement which obviously I sold it on eBay and bought other device.

I had an iPod touch that developed a fault and got it replaced right away on the Apple store!Bang! No question asked!

Do you see the contrast?

many here wear google glass and don't see the bad side of samsung or android... they come here to get the kick out of bashing apple with/without any reason ;)

I would change to:

many here wear X company glass and don't see the bad side of X ... they come here to get the kick out of bashing Y company with/without any reason ;)

This three-years-of-upgrades line is starting to sound a little naive. Apple don't do it out of the goodness of their hearts. It can't be coincidence that every one of those updates boasts performance upgrades yet somehow makes the devices run slower and slower. A now those upgrades are becoming practically mandatory, its starting to look a little more like a remote bricking service than after-sales care.

3 fragmentated software updates. It may say ios X on the tin, but Apple limit the amount of features it has.

Siri on iPhone 4?

no they only download undeleteable ios updates which can take up to 3 gig (might be half the space of the device), dont release security fixes for devices that can update to the latest ios and now there is the facetime thingy.

this nonsensical "gun to the head" phrase some use to defend each and every action of companies is obscene and while in the example i have above while no gun is used you are pressured into a corner.

but hey nobody put a gun to peoples head to buy the device 3 years ago right ?

from your previous posts i kinda doubt that but ive had to contact apple over three issues last few months (migrating texts from ios3 to ios7, iphone 4 quite often just losing service and the ios7 ota automatic download). i might as well have called some sex line because the idiots i spoke to were absolutely no help at all and if anything just plain clueless and condescending.

Interesting, apple seem to be trying to make it difficult for third parties to support google, this action seems about 4 years too late and knowing googles tactics they would just try again and again until they could have bought something that would have got them into the market anyway.

I don't have hate for any copying Samsung do but more of a hate for their poorly designed software that makes all their products deficient. If they continue to dominate and attempt to crush the competition we'd all be back in unusable feature/specs wars again. Software takes such a backseat in all reviews but is the only part that is important in making the hardware suitable for a mass market.

I love google for all their ground breaking services and software but they really are the antithesis of destruction of traditional economies and business. They destroy established businesses and offer free ad supported versions killing jobs and diverting corporate income to other countries and avoid paying tax in the country they're selling adverts to and use loopholes to avoid tax. They are the biggest hypocrites and everyone who works for them knows they are the best company to work for but the worst in terms of their business practices and financial activities.

Patents need to be reformed but Samsung knew full well they were going to have these issues, I suspect this isn't the last trial either. The figures involved might seem large but they are relative to the piles of money made by all these companies all of whom don't pay as much tax as even the smallest businesses, that's just not right or fair, these lawsuits are a form of taxation i feel and bring at least some of the money back into the economies they've leached it from.

what particular businesses are you referring to? and what is google doing that apple isnt dipping their toes into as well?

i wasnt aware that google was any worse than apple, amazon or facebook when it came to tax avoidance.

This is quite an interesting development and impossible to believe Google don't realise they're putting their head into the noose.

The closer Google gets to this the better. Then Apple gets to thermonuclear.

Samsung is a case of using Android to look like iOS.

But if Google itself, steps into the line of fire, and Apple gets a ruling… that pretty much invites Apple to make the case that (as we've seen), Google saw iPhone and realised that they had to change Android to copy iOS or become irrelevant.

This move could shorten the war by 10 years and save billions of clicks. Hey, I can dream, can't I?

Taking into account that the patents are not related with the iPhone I think that yes, you can dream what you want

What a pile of .....!

Glad you cleared that up then.

Anything Samsung/Google does that looks even the slightest bit like Apple = Copying.

Anything Apples does that looks even the slightest bit like Samsung/Google = What rubbish.

Well, that's because neither Google or Samsung made them first. They did copy it as well. Lot's of it probably from JB community. I am not going through them but I say all of them have been done before Android or iOS 7.

ok, so where is Apple's defense ?

its kinda "one-sided" don't you think ? If Google is entitled to step in, then why not Apple ? Money shouldn't be an issue..

Regardless, be prepared for another lawsuit for iPhone 6..

If anyone can find a reason, Samsung sure can... and always have.

I never had a problem when I had minor issue with my S2 Skyrocket getting service on it.

Conversely - when I emailed Steve Jobs to ask if anything was going to be done about the antenna issue that I and others were having, with our new iphones - he told me I was holding it wrong. And that it was a non-issue.

Ah, but Apple is the first doing thing, isn't? Don't you see the nonsense of that argument?
