Google discontinues Nexus One. Another Android bites the dust

I don't think this has anything to do with the iPhone. 
Google had a production run, that production run is now complete and they'll come out with another phone soon. It probably has more to do with pressure from other, more popular Android models than Apple.

But yea the Nexus One was starting to become outdated vs the other Androids and didn't put up a good fight with the iPhone 4.
It was a good run and looking forward to the next product HTC and Google can build and stamp it as 'the' Google phone.

So, by your logic Android wins each time Apple stops pushing a particular model (2G, 3G, etc.) right?

Google merely stops selling Nexus One directly. They are going for the retail route.

No, since it's the reference phone, it gets updates first. It got froyo first, and it'll get gingerbread next.
Interesting. Even though it's a reference phone I like it better then all the other Android phones. It's the right size, clean and simple lines and has the base UI which is elegant compared to the overwrought nature of the other ones. Maybe the Nexus 2 is coming with Gingerbread?

Won't ever get gingerbread, Nexus One isn't powerful enough to handle it. Need 1 ghz processor and 512 mb of RAM for gingerbread.
Yes it will. N1 has the Snapdragon and 512 MB of RAM.
Gingerbread will be going to the Nexus One first. It is being used as the minimum baseline for Gingerbread.
Nexus One is a Blade Runner reference. The last thing they would call it is the Nexus Two. Surprised more of you didn't catch that.
the nexus one has been shown to run linux. That **** is cool. But it is not that good in comparison to the incredible, droid x, evo.... the nexus 2 will kick ass im sure.
