I want to activate a new iphone 14 on google Fi but when I signed up there are no esim option. The only option is sim card. Does it mean I have to activate using the sim card first, using an old phone, and then convert it to esim on iphone 14?

Step 1: Join Fi and check iPhone compatibility
  1. Go to the Google Fi website.
  2. At the top right, tap Join Fi.
  3. Select your iPhone from a list of models.
    • If you select “Newest models” or "Newer models," you can opt in to "Quick setup" to activate Fi on with an eSIM. With this option, the user doesn't receive a physical SIM card.
    • If you select "Recent models" or "Older models," follow the on-screen instructions. eSIM doesn't work with older iPhone models.
during signing up, there are no "Newest models" to opt in "Quick setup" and eSIM. The only option is "Bring your own phone, which Google would send a physical SIM card.

Yeah, those instructions seem to work with iPhone without any major issue, just beware you will not have 5G capability as they seem to limit it to their google ready phones...not that it matters, I don't see much of a speed difference in my area anyway.

So the steps ares:
1) order physical SIM from google
2) activate SIM using another old iphone
3) then convert SIM to eSim and activate iphone 14

does that sound right? Also does google let you change phone number after activation?
