I just updated my Nexus 7 to KitKat and guess what? Portrait mode has been REMOVED! Google is also forcing this on third-party developers too! I've just checked several non-Google apps (BTC Price and eBay) and they've been 'forced' into landscape mode. Hello Google, I WANT TO USE MY TABLET IN PORTRAIT MODE!

Note: I do not have the auto-rotate feature locked.

    Anyone else pissed about this?

I think you're doing something wrong - my Nexus 7 works fine in Portrait mode after updating to KitKat

Portrait mode has not been removed. An app has a choice of orientation and whether to lock it or not... the OS doesn't force anything.

As mentioned already, neither Google or Android OS require anything to be exclusive to one orientation or another. App developers can force orientation locking, for example games do this.

You might want to check and ensure your settings are correct. global orientation perhaps?
