Google Glass Can Use iPhone's Data Connection Via Bluetooth

What it is begging for is augmented reality. Mechanic not just with schematics, but pointing out what each component is as he takes things apart. etc. Facial detection so that you can lookup information on people you just meet. So many cool features, but it would require a full eye display, not a mini one in the corner.
 
I will be buying these whenever they release. Just for ***** and giggles, how can you call yourself a techie and not want these

Speaking as a recent iPhone 5 upgrader, I would add Siri to that list of disappointments as well.
 
IMO I think this is a great idea... and it's nice to see Google trying to be creative with technology. Imagine this in a few years?

I would love to have this. It’s way cooler than having a watch or wrist band.
It needs the thing I saw (don’t recall where) but a mouse type thing that straps to your finger. The price is way out there. I would pay up to $800 for it though. If it could store porn... um I mean movies that would be sweet. Also if I could connect any video/audio source such as a game console or ipad I would be in heaven. I have wanted one of these for years only the tech is just getting there now.

The future is looking bright I just hope I live long enough to see it.

the last thing i want to do is go running or cycling with these glasses on my head instead of a handy wrist watch to keep track of how i'm doing
 
After the new wears off, this will sit on a shelf collecting dust at $1500. Note, we never get to see what a jerk people look like who wear one of these. I'm thinking Locutus may be an apt comparison.

whether it becomes popular i think its affect might end up being more like google wave.

but i found the ad very nice and engaging.

How much did the Segway sell for when it was introduced? I think this is neat but I already don't trust Google so why would I want my life on Google's servers (in their hollowed-out volcano) for people to Google what I did at 12:05 on 13 December 2013.

Neat but it'll be used to improve the accuracy of drone strikes...

Don't forget the re-assembly as well. Imagine buying some furniture, a bike for your kid, or anything else that requires assembly and being able to see how you should put it together. As you look at all of the parts in front of you, 2 parts that should be fitted together could "highlight" and an animation could appear, showing you how they can fit together.
 
I think Josh Topolsky is correct when he say "it's not if, it's when"... it's easy to see that this type of device holds alot of promise, but is it ready to be consumed by the general public or is it too 5-10 years early? The Newton held promise as well, but commercially it wasn't well adopted... it took years before that class of devices matured.

Also, there still the problem of how to successfully commercialize the product.

$1500 is really too much, but for $200???
did you buy glasses? do you know how much for just a titanium glasses frame?

I watched the Google Glasses video and one thing kept hitting me: Just how bloody distracting and annoying the little bug in the corner was. Sure it was showing the other end of the Skype call, or turn by turn mapping, or other infor but I just disliked it intensely.

No Google Glasses for me at any price.
 
Dangerous

I can see some major accidents occurring with this device. Your peripheral vision is effectively shot when focussing on an object an inch from your eye. It is theoretically safer to use your smart phone while holding it on your steering wheel while driving. At least your peripheral vision of oncoming object is not as obscured.

We'll see.
