Google Hangouts for iOS Gains Support for iPhone X

Hangouts is horrible. Furthermore, Google half-asses things so they give up on projects midway through. Right now they have 5 or so different communication apps with no direction. Bottom line, you care more about Hangouts than Google does.

That's a curious statement. While I don't have much interest in much of what Google does, Google Hangouts does certain things very well.

One thing that comes in handy are free calls over WiFi back to the USA when you are traveling abroad.

That'd be nice. I've been using YakYak instead, although it's a bit buggy.

What a terrible decision for apple to do that. I keep using the feedback assistant hoping they will listen.

Hangouts was my favourite until Google announced Allo and Duo. Now I don't trust Google about communication anymore.

While I haven't been registered here on this site for that long (I lurked for years), the longer you've been here, the more obvious it is knowing who has actually travelled abroad and who is still living in mom's basement.

Inbox still hasn't been updated
I haven't used the Gmail app in so long and can't be bothered to download it.

I had a very extensive system of filters for my Gmail account to keep it tidy before switching to inbox a long time ago - when I had to delete them in order to make inbox work properly. Now I can't go back to Gmail without staring at a mountain of chaos. Everything is all over the place.

And now it seems that Google has stopped developing inbox. This is kind of upsetting ...

Yup it's too bad people are unwilling to use it.

I started using it. Then Google said it was phasing it out and rather focusing on Allo and Duo. Then I stopped using Hangouts of course, nobody wants to use an soon to be abandoned service. And then for some reason it wasn't discontinued anyway...

This is the problem with Google. They go so much back and forth between their own services, and launch so many overlapping and competing services with themselves that it drives customers away. They seem to lack focus on their own products, and just jumps on to the next Beta app that some Google engineer has made.

Gmail app is better, at least search isnt broken, and actually finds **** in it. I switched back long ago.

Couldnt have said it better. The Google Voice integration is atrocious, cannot stand the dialer or the speaker phone toggle. That's not to say Google Voice app is any better, it's just as bad.

Good. I got tired of looking at the boxed screen. My brother and sons use this because everyone doesn't have an iphone, We use it as a group chat when watching ball games and other stuff. plus I can use it on my laptop

Hello Google, can you not use AI to create good apps? Apparently not.

The worse part is that Google has no direction on where they want to go. Google Voice was going to be replaced by Hangouts then they reversed course. You now have Allo, Duo. Hangouts, Google Voice, and the new builtin Android texting app they just made and a lot of them have overlap in features. As far as iOS support, Google flat out sucks and I avoid them like the plague. CallKit for Google Voice would be implemented ASAP one would think. Still nothing and Callkit was introduced last September right?

In the app store log it says the update is specifically for the X. #SHRUG

It's now showing up as an available update on my 8.
