They also said, 'don't be evil' as part of their corporate motto.
It was conveniently been dropped when Alphabet took over.

talk abut the media standing by every word said...

That's that's what u get for reading click-bait.... If u stand out of line they'll be all over Google because they said something they could not promise "exactly* or time have change since..

Lesson here is, never believe that u read.. Not that a car would be good,n but if Apple can't do it, what makes u think Google can.

That was just an estimation, I don't think anyone believed that, and as we can see with the issues that Tesla is having with their self driving mode, its not an easy thing.

No Sir, it's not clickbait media, it was exactly what Sergei Brin said:

"You can count on one hand the number of years it will take before ordinary people can experience this,"

Apple didn't said they will be making a self driving car, and didn't say when they are going to release it.

If Tim Cook said that, you would be hearing about it every day and comparasions with the ghost of Steve Jobs and how Apple lost its cool/innovation/spirit/whatever.

But Google gets a free pass. They sold and sell shares based on this BS.

What does "experience this" mean? Use demo cars on Google campus?

I get ordinary people.....That's me....how will I get to experience this? Paid tour of a google campus? Maybe a Disney Land attraction?

You assume "experience this" means you can go to your local dealership and buy it?

Agreed. It seems that sometimes things can be taken a little too literally, essentially simply because they could be taken that way, even though other similarly, if not even more reasonable takes on the same thing can and do exist.

So you would be happy just being allowed to drive arroube google's parking lot?

It was exactly what he said.

Simply Google likes to promise what they can't deliver, all that's important is to keep the shareholders sucking in.

It's exactly what he said, it doesn't mean that the very literal way of taking it is the only reasonable/rational take on it though, even if it is a valid take on it as well.

No I am saying that I read the quote from your link and nowhere in there did it say YOU would be able to BUY a self driving car. It did say you can "experience" it.

Experiencing a self driving car could mean a wide range of things.

After reading your iPhone 7 rumors thread, I have come to terms with your reasoning and logic abilities and I am opting out of replying to your threads from here on out.

If you think that's a justification...

You can't get into a Google self-driving car unless you are a journalist or google engineer, where Sergey clearly said

"You can count on one hand the number of years it will take before ordinary people can experience this,"

Holy **** you are taking this way too serious. First even if it takes 11 more months it's still within 5 years (not 6 years at that point) and maybe google can't deliver their "estimation". Are you dying and need this ASAP as a dying wish or something? This broken promise has to hurt googles stock.
    --- Post Merged, Sep 22, 2016 ---
And to follow up, you don't know what he meant by "experience".

As an eminent ethnomathematian, I feel I should point out that in many cultures it's usual to count to twelve on one hand (the three joints of the four fingers) or even twenty four (palm of hand, back of hand). Although Brin's statement omits the word 'fingers', so it's conceivable that he's developed an exciting new fingerless system that could account for many tens of years.

Now I understand why 1ft = 12in and other oddities.

It could have been in binary, with 5 fingers signifying 5 1's or basically 11111 which converts to 31 in the typical decimal system used for years. Seems like we still have more than 25 years left.
