Trump voters routinely shooting non-white citizens and lawful visa holders is also pretty divisive there.

Google home has it right.

Im not even a Trump supporter, but do you have sources? Or do you just enjoy being edgy and perpetuating fake news yourself?

Problem is many, many people are convinced the NY Times is no better than Breibart or any other right wing source.

This is the main issue. If you discredit the messenger (ie the source) you discredit the message either way. No matter if it is truthful or not.

Trump won because he convinced people Clinton was a liar. Now he is attempting to do the same thing to the NY Time, CNN, etc. If you convince people no matter what they say is a lie you win....

If the Google Home product is repeating the things Trump says, then there's a pretty good chance that it is indeed spreading fake news and any criticism is thus justified. :D

Obama is working to undermine the Trump administration.

Nice conspiracy theory there guy. One problem with it though: Trump doesn't need any help undermining his presidency. Trump does that all on his own. And he's very very good at it. Big league!

When the media is not accountable for any of the crap they lie about or blow out of proportion, the cries of fake news are ignored.

Every major media network is experiencing ratings drops because they push one agenda or another.

The trouble with the machine learning algorithms is the silent weaknesses in them. In this case, Google leans toward "engagement" as what people should know. The trouble is that fake news (aka lies) is very engaging. People get all worked up and link to it, either because it aligns with their beliefs and they think it's true, or because it doesn't and they can't believe this false stuff is being spread.

Oh I get it now. You're so duped by a particular political party that you're blinded by hate for "the other side."

and look at all the "white" people beating the living crap out of trump supporters/actual americans....i swear most of society is being dumber.

I honestly don't think MOST trump supports and regular people like myself, just want a boarder to protect its citizens and DONT CARE about LEGAL immigration. Liberals just say thats wrong...i don't get it.

Have they been recommending CNN again for real news!? Or 'tweaking' their auto completion results to filter any negative news on liberal politicians!?

No. Modern politics are. Every political faction has adopted "the end justifies the means" philosophy, whether you are liberal, conservative, libertarian or some mix of the above. People will happily quote and cite a black vs white opinion article that agrees with their political identity and ignoring even the possibility of a shade of gray.
[doublepost=1488812746][/doublepost]

Do you care when you are affected because a large number of ignorant people decide who gets elected or if a law is enacted, repealed or retained? What sites do you consider "fake news"? If you post them here, right now, you would derail this conversation into an argument about what sites are or are not a fake news site.

How many times have you been asked a question, in general, and told the person asking the question to "Google it"? Even if you personally never have you have to admit it's a very common response. This is verbal Googling. If someone knows little or nothing about the subject how deep do you think they will go researching it? They wanted an answer not a research project.

I could write a formal response to this. I actually did but decided something simple would be better. So I will sum it up like this:

If a person can't tell the difference between a skunk and a cat they will learn the hard way !!

I stand by what I said and the ratings have been dropping year over year.

Last year was an election year and we have never had an election like it in my lifetime. Believe me, when there is a train wreck (fabricated or not), people stop and watch.

When ratings return to nothing this year, don't be shocked they gave theirselves too much credit.

They can legally mislead you and it seems like it has worked.

What I said was "alternative facts" but what you "cited" only proves that last year was a good year. Sounds like you are trying to mislead people as much as the media.

That's what I was saying

Why would they return to nothing when the train wreck they tuned in for last year is still in the process of derailing?

The one misleading people here is you. You can stand by what you said all you want, but you have nothing to support it and what you said was not true. I gave actual stats with links, you gave me crystal ball predictions.

You proved that ratings were abnormally high during an election like we have never had. You gave links to people touting their own horn. The train wreck is over and people will go back to their normal life. Trump is just another neocon in conservative clothing. Nothing to see, now.

The media is doing all they can to create stories to keep people interested. It's working on you. Citing 1 year does not prove anything other than you have no clue how to read statistics.

You are cherry picking statistics to fit a certain narrative and it's obvious.

It goes deeper than journalism but you are right they should be accountable. Freedom of press doesn't exist so the media can speculate and take sides. Freedom of press exists so journalists can report facts and not be in fear of the government arresting them.

I wouldn't call Trump a conservative or neo-con; he's an opportunist pretending to be a populist for his own self-aggrandizement. Given his history, I suspect he is wedded to no principals other than to do whatever is best for DJT. I suspect there will be a lot of disappointed Trump voters as his presidency plays out, starting with how the whole Trumpcare rollout is going.

If you look at the history of the media since our founding, speculation, taking sides, yellow journalism are part of that long and glorious history. Today's press seems tame in comparison.

Putting a chill over the press in order to hold them accountable is not the answer. They already can be sued for libel or slander, albeit it is difficult hurdle to met the test for doing so. In fact, making people in power uncomfortable and angry is part of the press' job. The answer is for the populace to listen to media from all ends of the spectrum and make up their own mind instead of sitting in an echo chamber that parrots their views.

Yes. And your refrigerator and oven are conspiring via the IoT to starve you as payback for when you took their friend, your old Mac, to be recycled.

You aren't providing any statistics at all. You're just trying to predict a future with nothing to back it up. You are literally making things up. You have provided no evidence to support your claim that ratings are dropping.
