Unless Apple has something similar to announce either at WWDC or this autumn, the heat just got turned up a little higher. And even then, can't see an Apple equivalent offering the same capabilities as a device tied to al of Google's services.

I am very excited for this...just set up Chromecast Audio devices throughout my home too.

Google Home! Great job, Google! Echo is $179, so hopefully they price is under that. Haha, that Google Home ad was cute!

And...... this better integrate with their current messaging app and Hangouts. Or this is ridiculous.

This is not exactly what I was hoping for.......

Pretty cool but useless if it's not the default messaging app for Android. Otherwise, it's no different from Hangouts, which has had terrible adoption. For once Google needs to lock down their messaging.

Yeah, probably right. How about having the ability to change it but at least start as the default on all phones.

So, now they have Hangouts, Google Messenger, Google Voice app and now Allo? Google just pick ONE and make it the default app for Android.

Yeah but gotluck is right. Making it default and locked down means even more scrutiny from the EU and US govt. Their openness is their weakness in this specific case.

Not sure how any of this is faster than just searching Google. Why would I want to chat with a bot?

OK... the integration in chat with friends is pretty cool though.

I mean cool stuff, but all could have just been done in hangouts all along. And still not a standard RCS messaging platform.
[doublepost=1463594234][/doublepost]Google just doesn't seem interested in knocking the stigma that they just build and abandon prototype apps.
