9 to 5 Mac notes that Google has started rolling out its "results-as-you-type" Instant search feature to users visiting the company's homepage on iOS devices. The feature does not yet appear to be available in all locations within the United States, but it should presumably be coming soon to those who have not yet seen it appear.

Notably, the feature is opt-out, meaning that it will be the default behavior for users on the company's site unless they choose to turn it off.

working for me

went to the website and had the option to turn the beta on...

nice.

too bad i'm an app person and not a webapp person...

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPod; U; CPU iPhone OS 3_1_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/528.18 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile/7E18 Safari/528.16)

I love that feature.....

Hope it doesn't slow down our devices.

Seems to be working for me, but I still haven't decided if I am keeping it on or not, as it sometimes slows down things.

I really just want to see Google Navigation come to the iphone, it work really well on my wife's phone. I don't care about google instant, I think it is a flop on the computer, why would I want it on my phone?

I disabled it on all my computers the first time they had it up as I found it rather annoying. I do like the search suggestions that come up in the search field but I don't think having the whole screen flash every time you hit a key is really any advantage

I'm not really a fan of this on desktop browsing, so I'm skeptical about it on my iPhone. It is not available for me yet.

Who actually goes to the Google homepage anymore?

On my iDevice, never. On my Mac, it is my homepage.

I wish google didn't assume just because they have a 1000 GBPS internet connection doesn't mean everyone else does.

I don't like this instant search option also and disabled it but after few days if turns on aurtomatically. Is there a way I can premanently disable google instant.

Works only from Atomic Browser with private mode on for me. Maybe Google Instant should be an opt-in, since it's hard to permanently disable without logging in.

I really like Google Instant except when I start typing and then pause. Then whatever that partial search is automatically clutters up my history.

Hey nice idea, by logging in its at least disabled till I log out, but I wonder by logging in there might be some tracking of my search activities.

I don't get why people don't like this.

Some of you are complaining about instant search on the desktop. I don't have a super fast connection and it works great. There isn't any screen blinking just smooth typing with results showing below as you type. This probably uses a form of Ajax so it shouldn't have any effect on the type field. Besides, Google is one of the fastest websites because it is simple text being streamed to your browser (IE very little bandwidth needed.) Mobile 3G is only somewhat slower than my default connection so I can't imagine it being much slower.

I don't like google instant not because of the connection speed or page load time but of the fact that sometimes results / searches google shows is not exactly but I am looking to search for.
