Who would want Google being able to access the location of their stuff?too bad they won’t be completely interoperable.

Sounds like air tags are completely useless now for certain use cases. Eg. Putting one in your car/other valuable item incase it gets stolen. Now it will alert the thieves !
But half assed so that users still have to use 4 digit pin that can be easily spied on, leading to their iPhone being stolen and then Bank accounts emptied*iOS
And Apple was the first to implement fingerprint recognition and facial recognition into consumer phones.
The iOS default is 6 digits AFAIK and has been for a good while now. And you’re free to use a password instead. That said pretty much every debit-/creditcard here has a 4-digit pin. I have yet to hear or read about extreme widespread situations where everyone constantly sees their bank account being emptied because of that. But half assed so that users still have to use 4 digit pin that can be easily spied on, leading to their iPhone being stolen and then Bank accounts emptied
I’m still trying to find out if that’s the case or not. If my iPhone is lost, can a nearby Android device update its location for the Apple Find My network? Or are these two separate networks that only communicate to nearby devices that a device is moving with a user?I don't understand why both companies wouldn't make the systems completely interoperable.
....wait never mind, I am sure it was Apple not playing nice again. <sigh>
I agree they should have name it Finder and renamed the macOS Finder to FilesIt used to be Find My Friends. But then they wanted you to find other things so it's just Find My, which is dangling and awkward.
That’s because there are so many Fandroids here sniffing the flowers on the nicer side of the garden wall… They need to get their update news from somewhere. It is always a breath of fresh air to have the latest Android news on Macrumors. 💩
As if it was ever going to happen. Jobs lost the lawsuit on Samsung and he would never ever had won this. Plus Jobs would never have made Apple a multi trillion dollar company. Cook haters are so boringRegarding Google copying Apple, Steve Jobs said, "I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go thermonuclear war on this." Unfortunately, Jobs died soon after, and that corporate suit Tim Cook took over and completely dropped Jobs's quest for justice by dropping the planned lawsuit because Cook is soulless.
So, people who are disappointed that Google still shamelessly copies Apple, should not blame Google, but should instead blame Cook.
Yes, android zombies seem to spend their time on Macrumors. Might as well give them some Android news. 🤪That’s because there are so many Fandroids here sniffing the flowers on the nicer side of the garden wall… They need to get their update news from somewhere.

Copying Apple. Classic Google.
To be fair. Tile only worked in San Fran where other tiles were. AirTags worked across the world at launch. Having a tag might have been tiles idea. Having it work well is Apples. They implemented it properly whereas Tile, if they had have thought of it, couldn’t have used android in the first instance. I’m glad android now has this and maybe they won’t feel so aggrieved with iMessage.Having no idea that a tech existed before Apple is classic MacRumors commenter. Tile was first with a tag based tracking network which worked great until Apple decided to implement their own. At that point they limited Tiles ability to work while pushing their own tags. Typical Apple behavior these days. I miss the days when Apple R&D went to designing amazing products. These days they just use their size and control to limit or kill competition and silo off their services so they only work with each other. Oh, and on top of that Samsung released their still excellent SmartTag before the Apple AirTag as well. By my count that puts Apple in 3rd place and Google in 4th. 3rd & 4th place isn't really bragging territory.
Apple should share the technology they developed with google ?I don't understand why both companies wouldn't make the systems completely interoperable.

Google basically copied the whole OS, UI, form factor from Apple.HAHAHA. What are you smoking? Literally every "IOS" innovation Apple has produced since the iPhone 3G was copied from Google (and implemented years later). Google is like literally Apple's best R&D member. Ther rare occasion Google borrows an idea is fine with me.... Apple still in their debt.
They did share their technology. That’s why Android did this. Or do you mean share their hardware. 😂 yeah right.Apple should share the technology they developed with google ?
wouldn't it be nice if Apple made how they design their processors open source so that competitors can compete with Apple ?
customers and other businesses would benefit from this, except Apple.
When you say basically, I assume you mean specifically. And Samsung basically copied the iPhone design. I mean specifically.Google basically copied the whole OS, UI, form factor from Apple.
They did what they always do, make something that they didn't invent better. However, unlike some of their other core features or technologies, this is something that can benefit everyone. It could have gone the route of how Apple joined the consortium to create Matter and then integrate it into HomeKit. But the didn't take that path.Apple should share the technology they developed with google ?

They are not interoperable to locate your device, only to stop location sharing from a device that is tracking you. However, since both Apple and Google are allowing third parties to join their systems, there could be an option for a third party to build a tracker that would work across both. It would have just been a lot better for the industry if they would have joined up like Apple did for Matter and HomeKit support. Then a thief stealing an iPhone or Android has no where they can go where they won't have the device tracked.I’m still trying to find out if that’s the case or not.
