This thing got me to walk 5km this morning. Already, I love it. I wish it had an option to randomly assign me a faction though. The ambiguous description of the resistance side, and that everything in Akron is enlightened, makes me think I made a terrible mistake.

It needs Google+ (yuck), but I don't see what's wrong with making a new account called "asfiajlsjkd84oi57we8" and using that. I'll try it out later.

As it is, I have a non-G+ account for posting YouTube videos and a G+ account for commenting and such on YouTube… though I've quit both because I got sick of YouTube changing every day and the annoying new comment layout.

Google and NSA tracking people in realtime? Cool!

Google doesn't need a game to track users at least on Android (the same for Apple on iOS). This game is more of an experiment. I doubt Google is using it to get any useful data from users.

With all respect to your opinion I highly doubt such corporation as Google makes an 'experiment' without any goals in mind. We know how it tracks everything and everyone so to feed them with targeted ads.

They certainly don't need this game to track you. Ingress was created by Niantic Labs (which is a part of Google). It certainly seems like an experiment by this group which apparently operates pretty independently of Google.
