This reminds me of a very insightful comment I read some where, "Google is only good at two things, search and cloning other companies businesses."
There was another good one that suggested, "The only difference between the NSA and Google is a bunch of free services and better PR".

You can tell one of those images is from The Guardian because they've put all the nuts on the right.
We're looking for good ideas, not "anything that's different". Newsstand works because it has a physical identifier, something that people can see in their mind. Not to mention this is more than just magazines and periodicals. This is ... a combination of their magazine software and their news aggregate app. :|

I actually can care less as I don't even use the current newsstand. hated it prior to iOS 7 because I couldn't put it away in a folder.

Correct, you are missing my point.
Read his original post, then read my response, you will notice that I never mentioned Google inviting or not inviting devs for the Google platform and nor did he, so why bring it up in your response?

It's not the concept, it's the name, this would make sense if it were 'iTunes Music' but it isn't
Pretty sure iTunes came before Google Music (and iTunes Radio was well in talks before Google Music Radio).

iOS top 50 free apps: 5 apps from Google
Google has one out of ten top 50 free apps.
Google has 16 apps total, some of which are not likely to be used by average people (YouTube capture, Google Fiber, Chromecast, and a few others).
I wouldn't say that NOBODY wants a Google app.
So all being substitutes for a newsstand! (except the "feeds" which isn't much of a representation of a full magazine or newspaper and many people still don't understand feeds).
I guess I wasn't trying to say there weren't other possibilities. But when a company uses something obvious like "newsstand" it's an obvious choice for others.

Must admit that I'm not going to wring my hands and pull my hair out because someone with an iPhone has got an app that is named the same as an app on my Galaxy S4, it won't confuse me either. Ive more important things to worry about than a name of an app on a phone. IMHO, its a non issue.
I read his post. And yours. I never said you mentioned one thing or another. My post was inference. Unless we're in court, that's how most human conversations go, especially written communications, such as on a forum.
So whatever point you're trying to make still makes no sense.
And if you think I'm an idiot, so be it, doesn't change the fact that I have no idea where you're going w/ your post.
