Yes there is.

I was referring to Google Maps in CarPlay, which doesn’t have incident reporting.

You have to give meta credit for no giving up on their “quest”
We all know this will be killed by google asap.
Tiltbrush. Blocks. Poly ..etc. Vr180 … given up before it was even allowed to take off

True, but we’ll see if that ever reaches a point where that becomes something people buy into. I’m skeptical. Seems cumbersome and awkward even in some kind of heads up display.
Yeah I’m pretty sure mainstream will never want to wear goggles. The headset would have to basically look just like regular glasses, but that tech seems pretty far off.

Thinking back to the pre google map days of 2005. What a game changer all these online mapping tools have become whether it be Google or Apple maps. We just take them for granted now.

The amount of work and data going into this is huge!
Apple has used Google maps and now TomTom maps. TomTom maps are also found in car navigation systems.

Google is bringing a new augmented reality Live View feature to its Maps app, allowing smartphone users to visually search for restaurants, coffee shops, and other businesses that are located nearby.

Using Live View, you can open up Maps and tap the camera icon in the search bar to see what's around you, from shops and banks to ATMs and bars. Google Maps will provide AR-powered directions and arrows, giving you an idea of how far a location is from you and how you can get there. In addition, you can also see key information about each place overlaid right on the screen, such as whether it's open, what the price range is, and how it's rated.

Google says that users can tap on place categories to see what restaurants, bars, dessert shops, parks, and transit stations are within walking distance.

Google previewed search with Live View back in September, but now the feature is ready to launch. It will be rolling out in London, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, San Francisco, and Tokyo starting next week.

Google is also rolling out new features that will make it easier for electric vehicle owners to find the best charging station for their vehicles with a "fast charge" filter, plus Google is expanding information about wheelchair accessible, stair-free places around the world.

But it hasn't adapted the dynamic island, which is why I don't use it 😊

Wouldn't that be redundant? The driver already sees their speed on their dashboard.

I did have an old van where the speedometer would randomly stop working, so I used a Speedometer app to maintain my speed while driving. 😝

Guess you've never used Waze. It's had a live speedometer for years. It's much more convenient—and safer—to not have to keep glancing between your phone and the dash. Waze can also alert you when you're more than 10 MPH above posted speed limits.

There’s this orange needle sweeping across a dial right in front of my face in the dash.

I’ve had that function in TomTom, Garmin, Waze and others. I’m not missing it. And I’m using Apple Maps with CarPlay. Much nicer screen in my dash than even on the largest iPhones.

I don't have CarPlay so I gotta use what I can.

I replaced the older aftermarket Pioneer head unit I put in when I bought my car with a newer Pioneer head unit that supports CarPlay. Couple hundred bucks, already did all the wiring work a few years ago. Plug and play and voila, CarPlay. It’s awesome :)

I did consider a new car but retrofitting was less than a month of car payment so that was an easy decision.

No sometimes it's easier to just look in one spot for speed limit and your speed. Plus you can set it to alert you if your speed is so far over the limit. It's nice when roads either never have signs or they change the limit way too frequently. I just wish the speed limit on GM wasn't ridiculously small. AM has it at a nice size

my car is a 2012. Even the Bluetooth is hanging by a thread. I got some quotes over the summer to add a CarPlay unit and back up camera…and couldn’t find it cheaper than $1200ish. It only has 75k miles on it and still runs fine. But I don’t want to throw $1200 at it either. Guess I’ll wait it out.
