I'm using Waze. Would happily switch to Google Maps (and I do when travelling trough the Europe) as finding it more precise. Although things like changing the route, community elements such are police / speed camera alerts / current speed are much better in Waze. Also I like these seasonal updates (special voices / car icons / etc.) and social aspect such as driver ranking / points / etc. BUT Apple Maps have improved. I wish I would use them more especially that in my BMW X5 G05 they are compatible with not only CarPlay but the iDrive - stuff like HUD or dashboard fully supports them which is amazing. With Apple Maps I don't know how to quickly change the route, don't have (or can't find it) favourite locations and haven't tested them on the long trips (for example London to Warsaw or Warsaw to Italy) where sometimes Waze is not able to find good routes and this is where Google Maps wins.

My flat is still not present on google maps satellite maps for 3 years already

For driving, Apple Maps. The detail and lane changing info beats Google’s bar none. Also integration with Siri and other apps make it a no brained.

For transit, I use my transit agency’s app, as it has Apple Pay passes, and the trip planning is a lot more accurate than Apple or Google combined.

For place searching? It’s a toss up. I find myself just using Apple.
Definitely a no for Apple Maps here.

Apple Maps still cannot add an address as second stop. You can only add a gas station or a restaurant or some other category nonsense.

Second stops are smarter and safer. Unbelievable it’s 2022 and Apple Maps hasn’t bothered to add this feature.

Won’t be touching Apple Maps again until they get their act together, unfortunately.

This is something missing from Apple Maps that I wish you can do as well. I want to be able to plan a multi stop trip as well as a multi modal trip.

A multi modal trip is for example drive to a park and ride lot and hop on a bus for a bit and then walk a few blocks to your destination. With Apple Maps I have to commit to driving, walking or transit with no way to combine them.

Google Maps just updated for me today on iOS but nothing in the release notes indicating the new features are now active.

For some reason, one update a while back seems to have completely removed UK mini roundabouts from apple maps… it now just treats them as a straightforward junction. Most odd. I agree that apple maps has the nicer UI but I almost always use Google Maps for traffic accuracy

Traffic lights and stop signs showing up in Canada with tonight’s update.

Still using google maps here, but will give Apple Maps another shot. It looks like they have made a lot of good changes recently

So having used the new Google Maps interface today to drive to work, I still prefer the Apple Maps implementation of stop signs and traffic lights:

1) Apple's stop sign and traffic light icons are bigger, so easier to see on CarPlay
2) Apple's traffic lights are black with the red/yellow/green while Google's are white with r/y/g. Google's are harder to see, IMO, on their mostly white background. There were a lot of intersections where I had to look closely to see if it was marked with a traffic light because the white on white washed out the icon.
3) Apple lets you do traffic/incident reporting in CarPlay. Google still does not.
