Just watched the 3GS walk through video on Apple's website.

On the 3GS, Google maps now rotates the maps so the direction you're facing is pointed up at all times, just like a real GPS.

Nice. I did not know that.

I wonder what other hidden improvements (if any) will be in Google Maps.
 
This is due to the new digital compass. It isn't a 'hidden improvement, it was one of the main selling points!

I've known for a while that Google maps would show which way you're pointing. I didn't know it would actually rotate the map itself. That's a pretty big change to how Google Maps works.
