Is there a way to make google navigation switch to night mode in tunnels and when it’s dark like in android? Or is this not available on the iOS version?

There is a dark mode - in Settings - Navigation:
It just works a little bit slowly in my opinion.

I'm thinking, in the iOS version, that "Automatic" only changes dark/light at sunrise and sunset.

The nightmode works fine on my iPhone SE running iOS10.3.2 and Google Maps. I think that the voice navigation can be irritating I've noticed. She talks too much 😉 I'm trying again Waze (also by Google) to see if the UI is a bit cleaner and that you only get to see what is needed. I also missed the max speed indicating with Google Maps here in the Netherlands.
