Hi all,

The app worked ok on the AW2 ages ago, then was stopped for some reason.

I've just noticed it is back on the App Store.

I've got a AW6 now.

Is Google maps on Apple Watch - As good as on iPhone?

I find Google maps a lot better than apple's version in the UK.

I'd really like to be able to walk along, in an unknown part of town, without my phone out. It would be good to just go by spoken directions, and I'd look at the watch face if I'm unclear.

Best wishes

Martin

Google is better for biking and walking compared to Apple here in Denmark as well, so will try it out. Thanks for the heads up.

Google is creepy and tracks folks and falls over itself to give data to hostile governments

Did a good bit of research on map apps, funny thing was the best one for a safety and function standpoint was the Apple Maps that came on my device

Hi x,

Just tried it, and got it working in the end. Bit of a faff.

To get routing working on watch:
Get route running on iPhone, with app running on watch, at the ‘need to run on iPhone. ‘ screen.

Need time right, as goes off on watch really quickly.

A 2 handed job faff. Not ‘just works’ at all 😔

Yeah wow this app seems very dependent on the iPhone app.

I'm trying the app on my Ultra 2 - just opening the app, it does not display a map with current location like the Apple Maps app?

Hi S,

Yes I had that a well.

Didn't get any better actually running a route, to get back to car park. It just showed text, saying 'turn left in 200 yards' etc.

Also, watch kept vibrating, but I think that was because I had sound turn't off on the watch.

I'll try again a few more times, and will set to delete if not get any better.

Shame the AW2 version was much better and really did just work!

Best wishes

Great - thanks for the confirmation. I'll stick with the Apple app for now.
