Apple: the beautiful Calatrava bridge in Reggio Emilia, Italy: Reggio nell'Emilia — Emilia-Romagna

Google: bridge isn't yet built https://www.google.it/maps/@44.7273078,10.6349815,961m/data=!3m1!1e3

I know it's about 9 years for sure, as my house was finished 9 years ago, and in Google it appears under construction.
Something similar is true where I live in the UK. The imagery is around 10 years old. What is really strange is that it seems to be a bug, which I have reported several times over the years to Google, but they never fix it. In Google Earth, where you can choose the date of the image (historical imagery or whatever the slider is called), they do have many more up to date versions of the imagery. But for some reason, the one shown in the Google Maps application, on the Google Maps website, and the default version in Google Earth is 10 years old. I'm beginning to think they will never fix it.

Edited to add: according to the Historical Imagery slider in Google Earth, Google have satellite imagery for 2003, 2004, 2005, 2010 and 2014 where I live. And yet, the one shown in Maps is (according to Google Earth) dated 12/31/2005.

I would like to see Apple deploy it's own Satellites. Is there any Governmental regulation against that?.

No. The Space Act of 1957 allowed for it, and the Space Act of 2015 encourages commercial space activity. There never was any practical limitation, if you had the money and you didn't endanger public safety or national security. The massive privacy issues are still to be dealt with.

For those "wondering" where the updates are, try using Chrome or setting Safari's User Agent to Mac Chrome.

You'll often see a big difference. The simple difference is aerials are in the Satellite Option in Safari OR the Earth Option in Chrome or Safari with Chrome as the User Agent.

I'm also using Google Earth Pro and seeing some of the nifty updates there too...

There goes Google with their browser-blocking again...
