Just updated to version 5.76 on my iPhone, and the option to enable Dark Mode is in Settings. Finally!
I am on version 5.76.5 and can't find anything in settings to enable dark mode. Where did you find it in settings?

Tap on your icon in the Search bar... choose Settings... Using Maps (third section): Dark Mode.

And as far as I can tell Apple completely changed this in iOS15 and now Maps takes its mode from the system-wide light/dark mode setting with no way to override it.

I'm happy for people who like Maps in dark mode but personally I really prefer light mode for map readability despite using dark mode for absolutely everything else. I got away with it up till now because I always used Google Maps instead of Apple Maps but I quite like what I'm seeing with the Apple Maps improvements in iOS 15 to the extent that I would seriously consider switching were it not for the fact that as far as I can tell there is now no way to override my global dark mode setting to get Apple Maps back into light mode.

Have I missed a setting somewhere in the new iOS15 Maps app or do other people see the same thing, i.e. Maps now will only follow the system-wide light/dark mode setting with no way to override it?
