Google Music Deauthorization Limit!

But it's not 10 devices a year but rather just 4, because going forward that's all you can replace. I understand the need to prevent people from having all of their family and friends using one account but 4 seems too low, IMO. I'm not in the league of MacRumorUser or many others here when it comes to switching devices but I have 2 iPads, 2 phones, and 2 Macs all currently aurthorized and those are just my personal devices. We have additional computers, tablets, phones in our household that aren't yet setup--we'd probably hit that 4 device limit pretty quick over the next year.
That represents an entirely different problem MRU. 😉
So I was now able to delete devices that were duplicates due to ROM flashing, even though I'm supposedly at my 4 deauthorization limit. This is good, but I still anticipate this will be a problem for me. I have 7 legit devices authorized now, and over the next year I will for sure swap out devices more than 3 times. If they'd let me deauthorize my tablets now I'd do that to free up spots for phone swapping. I just wish they would have told us before implementing this policy again, I could have cleared off devices I don't use GPM on.

That's why I stopped using google play music. I'm a jail breaker and often need to restore when a tweak goes Heywire and destroys my phone.

It's ridiculous. I went to my account and deautorised 4 devices but I still have 4 devices on there that I no longer use. So basically I've only got two available slots for the rest of the year!

This is why i prefer to have my music on my phone.....preferably with a Micro card. The Google music player imo sucks for one and isnt as loud as when i use Poweramp. But i cant complain really because i dont use 3-4 phones at a time, lol.
I dont know why they dont lt you delete a phone you no longer have though.

I do have my music on my SD card, it's other devices that I need it for like my Tablets as I prefer to stream music rather than store it directly on the device.

I keep my own music local stored as well but I subscribe to All Access so that I can listen to anything from Google's library, my preferred way to explore new music. I've been reluctant to switch to something else because I got in at the introductory price and until this, have been happy with the service. That being said, I have a problem with this type of policy and may very well cancel and check out Rdio or Spotify. Neither of those apps impose a device limit (and have a much larger subscriber base) so Google has no excuse for theirs.

Well, just checked my list and it has both of my Macs listed as a device.
Regardless, I understand having this type of policy to prevent blatant abuse--it's Google's implementation (no warning of the change) and the limits they've established that I think are b@&$%#t.
Like I said, it's a bummer because I like the service, how it integrates both my personal music library with the ability to explore new music and its cross platform compatibility. I'm personally hoping Apple implements a similar setup this fall, otherwise I'll probably be looking elsewhere.

Up to ten devices can be used in total, including tablets, iPods, etc. While you can use multiple devices with the same account, you can only play music using one device at a time. Google Play Music All Access subscribers can listen to unlimited music on up to four mobile devices. Once you have connected 10 devices, you may add a new device only by*deauthorizing*an existing one from your account, and you may do this up to four times per year.
I've gone ahead and reset your authorized devices. You should be able to authorize up to 10 new devices and have 4 de-authorizations available to you. I think I'll have to email them too and see is they will reset my devices. As only having two free slots for the rest of the year won't be enough.

i am also not happy about this change in google music. between their screwed up iOS app and this, i looked into spotify again. it's come a long way from when it first launched in the States. i just like my $7.99 plan and the fact that non google music is mixed in with the streaming service. any alternatives to that feature? i'm also going back to the Nexus after 6 mo. on the old iPhone. Lemon Meringue Pie looks like the tits.

Yeah the fact the iOS app hasn't even been optimised for tablets yet is a joke...
I've decided as soon as i hit a limit and they won't allow new devices because of de-authorisations i'll drop them.
