What kind of hardware does something like this require?

Maybe running XBMC on a server which Tasker connects to. The actual house controls could be Z-wave or x10 from there.

Nice idea and neat once you get everything set up.

My Google Now already recognizes my Smart TV on the network. Its very slick. Can't wait for this connectivity to get better in the future.
