So far I have only seen AI create extra work for those downstream….

Companies think they are saving money by having AI send us information instead of paying a project manager to communicate with us…but having an outsourced, licensed engineer who charges $450 an hour do basic spec sheets, is going to cost them a whole lot more than whatever they pay their internal managers.

My engineering firm is currently debating how much we need to raise contract prices because all the junk AI generated information we get from clients is just wasting so much extra time.

So ya, AI solving real world problems…well not in my experience…

Yeah same experience. It makes stupid and lazy people faster at generating low quality work. The rest of the people, it normalises everything to mush.

Such a gain.

In the future or well … now! no one’s images are going to be original. We’re going to dive deeper down the rabbit hole of “perfection” everyone being perfect at all times.

“Conversational Editing”! Huh? “Conversational”?? “Restore … Remove … Add … Change …” How is giving orders a conversation?

Hey google, what do you think of my photo?
AI> It's crap
What's wrong with it?
AI> I'm not sure I have the memory capacity to give you a full answer.
Summarise!
AI> Well, that food photo no-one wants to see anyway? Try taking it in focus next time, and before you've eaten half of it
Recreate it please
AI> Well, what was on the empty bit of the plate? I'm not magic
Loads of veggies
AI> Lying bastard. You mean fries covered in mayonnaise, right? OK - plate full of fries next to your half eaten burger

I wonder if some of the "conversational" functionality can include "and don't search the internet for photos to steal the copyrighted work of others when you add clouds to the sky, or a Disney castle to the background."

Nah, can't be done. Part of what they're selling is the theft of creative works.

i hope people realise that no AI (or anything) can faithfully fix a low resolution, washed out, cracked, century old photo.
it can fill up the blurry or damaged parts with generic content, but it won't be real by any definition.

i loved Google photos but had to quit after started asking for Full Access to my photos. When you export your photos, it keeps them in a separate .json file. It’s a pain in the butt to fix all your photos.

Ha, ha, yes that is exactly how i would picture conversational editing.
