Google Photos syncing edits?

Does Google photos sync the edits I make to my iCloud photos?

Say I crop a picture in my default iOS camera roll, will that change then sync over to Google Photos?

I have run across two scenarios:

1. I edit a picture in Photos and then open Google Phots and that edited photo is uploaded to Google Photos.

2. If a photo has already been uploaded to Google Photos and I edit it in Photos, Google Photos now has two, the original and edited photo.
