Google Photos to Get AI 'Wardrobe' Feature

Google Photos is getting a new wardrobe planning feature that will help you decide what to wear. AI will pull in images of clothing from the Google Photos library, organizing clothing items into a digital closet. You will be able to put items together to create outfits, and even virtually try them with a digital avatar on to see how they'll look.

The Google Photos app will show all items of clothing in a new Wardrobe section in the Collections tab. Clothing can also be viewed in specific categories like tops or bottoms. Items of clothing can be mixed and matched to create outfits, and the results can be shared with friends or saved to a digital moodboard.

In the popular 1995 comedy Clueless, main character Cher Horowitz has an iconic digital wardrobe that Google seems to be making a reality with Google Photos. Cher uses a touchscreen computer to swipe through the clothes in her wardrobe, pairing different tops and bottoms to create an outfit. A built-in "Dress Me" button tells her if two items go together, and if they do, she can preview the clothes on a digital version of herself.

Google's version of the Clueless virtual wardrobe will be coming to Google Photos this summer. Google says it will be available to Android users first, and then iOS users.

Every day, AI is shoved down our throats. It's so obviously a bubble with the companies having no idea what to actually do with it. Truly just throwing everything against the wall. As much as we criticize Apple for having "no AI strategy," they might actually win the race with whatever they release.

I think the “does it go together?” need not be used. You can still choose what to wear yourself lol. This just potentially saves time by reminding you what you have and allowing you to quickly preview combinations. I imagine this would be very popular.

AI companies spread fear that everyone will lose their jobs while at the same time begging you to spend $19.99 a month to use their products. "Here, help fund your own destruction!"

My algorithm works fine without AI:

What is nearest the top of the pile that is clean enough and probably provides the right level of warmth?

There are only around eight photos of me in my entire photographic history (other than ones of patches of skin taken to see if the thing I can feel on my back is a spot or a mole).

I think elite people have assistants (like real assistants, not AI agents) telling them what to wear and when.

Maybe this, connected to weather data, event names (from a calendar) among other things would be that but free and for everyone?

The real question is, does the other 99.99% of people need that too? I don’t think so.
