Google Pixel 4/Pixel 4 XL

This is a very subjective preference for photos; the "pop" as you refer to, are the contrasty photos that the Pixels are known to put out. And don't get me wrong, they can be quite gorgeous and appealing.

However, the iPhone puts out a much more realistic cast with its standard photos; and that's exactly what I want it to do, being a photography enthusiast.

That's my only concern at this point, the battery. I was going to wait for user feedback on the battery but I can always return it if I'm not happy. I probably wouldn't be happy with less than 7 hours SOT, given that I get 7-9 from the 3a XL.

Since when are Pixels known for their contrasty (is that even a word) photos that pop? Thats more like a Samsung.
 
As long as we don't have a massive and ugly notch on the display, I'm happy!

I have to think there’s zero chance you get 7 hours of SOT with the 4 XL. It’s going to have the same size battery as the 3a XL but will also have a more powerful SOC, higher resolution display, and higher refresh rate. All of which eat more battery.

Google know full well that the battery life was one of, if not the biggest drawback to the 3XL. So if it really is as bad as I think it will be, it's a pretty epic fail in my opinion.

I'm waiting for the 4XL as well. The new iPhone has good camera just can't take ios anymore. So incredibly boring and stifling after being on Android. One thing that impressed me on the One+ 7t is its macro focus ability. You can take some amazing close ups with that phone.

LOL. Android is even more boring as Google is running out of ideas to the point that they’ll just change icon colors and rearrange the settings page for no reason. All the greatness of Android now comes from the OEMs, not google. The things you love on the One+ is due to One+, not Google. Features I love on Android like twin apps, bokeh video, etc are improvements by the OEMs like Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung, etc. These features are nonexistent in stock Android, to the point that I sold my Mi A1. Stock Android simply offers nothing extra.

When I say android I'm using a general term. Not specifically talking about the pure os. My note 9 is the best phone I have ever owned. I have never owned a pixel phone but I have always been impressed by the camera. Looking forward to seeing what new one can do.

Google's post production engine is very good and the photos never look overdone.

I am a photography enthusiast myself and loved that when going on holiday or being out for a fun day, I won't have to individually edit 50-100. As a dad, the Pixel 2 XL saved me so much time. I also miss the ability to activate the camera one handed by double pressing the camera button. I wish I could do the same with the Siri button.

However the photo editing capabilities on the iPhone are superb, if you have time to edit.

Hey @Macalicious2011 I'm thrilled for you and that you found the right hardware for your preference; by all means, enjoy all your contrasty Pixels.

I prefer to capture the most authentically realistic photos possible, and have photos enhanced when I feel that the situation calls for it; which is why I'm thrilled to stick with the iPhone.

We all win.

If this isn't arrogant and condescending, I don't know what is. Seems you're the only one around here to complain about too much contrast on Pixels.

Please, by all means - Google yourself crazy a "Pixel iPhone photos compare contrast" - you'll find tons of articles that agree about everything I've said.

Just like this one, with camera proof (click here):

Not going to argue with someone that states his opinion as fact. You have a very narrow POV. There are tons of conflicting opinions and POV all over the place. One just has to not have a narrow POV to see them.

Sorry, but my "POV" is based upon fact, which I have been the only one who has provided proof of my argument in this discussion (see my last post #768 above).

By no means am I interested to put the Pixel down, I almost jumped ship over to the Pixel 4 (as I stated yesterday), and I do not feel that I am putting the Pixel down.

But I've gathered enough reputable reviews & views of photos to come to the conclusion that Pixel photos tend to have much more contrast, compared to iPhone's more natural approach.

It's just the way it generally is - and it's up to each of us to decide our preference. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's funny how most have come to the consensus that the Pixel takes the best pictures. No matter what the contrast is or whether it is sharper or more lifelike.
its OK....you missed the point both of us were making about your posts. That happens when you have a narrow POV.....

Can't wait to see what Google does with the Pixel 4 and dual lens this time around.

And you both missed the point about MY posts: it's all about individual preference: whether you want your photos more authentically realistic or more processed with pop.

One has to make that choice, especially when calling themselves a photo enthusiast.

As you say - with a narrow POV as you guys display, it's easy to brush off a valid argument.

lol...but then no one is arguing the validity anything you posted were they?
 
Often people attach their personal identity to a decision to choose a device and they become a holes when someone does not agree with them. It is quite sad and reflects deeper emotional issues. Quite prevalent on this forum especially under iphone. Like a fan boy hornets nest in there. I don't even bother visiting hardly anymore.
