Google? Privacy? 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅 😅
Google and Privacy go hand in hand as Oil and Water.
Don't forget that Apple worked with Google on the exposure notifications system in iOS.
Just in case you decided to trust Google with your privacy.

Just glanced at the Facebook Privacy info and just learned that the Physical Address entered into the profile is also used for tracking. I had never considered that data point before, but it sure does strengthen the accuracy of tracking (for those that enter their real address). I wonder if they use the Billing Address entered when paying for services? That would be evil.
Or, assuming you read the earlier companion article, not.Seems you are making something out of a holiday code freeze

which btw is one of the best things the two company’s actually did together
though I think for googles part in regards to this collaboration they would respect privacy since they are working with Apple though (hopefully)
Maybe they paid FB to do it. They can’t risk the relationship with Apple.indeed. Luckily they didn’t throw a tantrum like FB did
Just like the memory hog chrome? By far google cloud was the biggest stinking pile of crap I ever had to use, their SDK's are terribly written. I've never thought I'll feel nostalgic about SAP, but they've managed to make me. Their softwares are poorly written, over-engineered, under-documented, and they constantly introduce breaking changes. Nowadays their only advantage comes for user adoption and accumulated data, not technological superiority.Obviously Google loves scooping every bit of data they can get, but at least their software is outstanding.
I tried that to the extreme. Needed Facebook for specific forums/debates. Not to connect with friends. Filled in minimal info and ignored its attempts to get me connected with others. After a while they locked me out and only allowed me back in if I gave them my phone number. Two weeks later they forced me to upload a picture. Recently I should also provide a copy of my passport. That was not worth it so no more Facebook for me.I still use facebook but Ive never filled and systematically ignore the "complete your profile" prompts, besides my email address Ive never filled school, work, telephone or address information... Ive never been "in a relationship" with someone, etc. In the end of course they're not so much a social network but a cross-referenced individual profile data gathering agency, Im sure they cross every bit of info and know more about us than we do. Even if you don't fill the profile.
Self reporting..... cant they just lie?Apple is requiring all apps to self-report privacy information in the App Store, and developers must identify all data collection and use cases.
Man, people seem to be all about conspiracy theories these days...
Google did their annual code freeze starting on December 11. It runs for about a month, and they do it every year.
You’re invited to read the preceding article from the same day on the same topic, particularly this paragraph:Get out of here with your facts & stuff! Bring on the torches and pitchforks!
I love eggs. Even if bound to a sword! Facebook is awful. Just another weird, government-backed digital ghetto used to amplify the latest social control programs intended to keep the plebs in line. Makes me yearn for the olden days when the internet was described as the "wild west". Now the politicians and corporations have managed turned it into a digital playpen.I tried that to the extreme. Needed Facebook for specific forums/debates. Not to connect with friends. Filled in minimal info and ignored its attempts to get me connected with others. I can see how this is a two-egged sword. They’re fighting fake profiles which is good, but I’m not gonna give them my passport.
On Facebook forums they also limited the number of posts I could see and just asked me to add min 15 friends to see more. That’s the proof that you’re not the customer, but the product.
Or not. If you don’t want to read the whole article, from the same day on the same topic, I’ll save you the trouble with this paragraph:Oh, so you mean they just took a break from releasing new code over the holidays? Cool non-story.
To be fair there's a difference between updating their own apps in their own OS/ecosystem, which likely happens more often in general, than in a whole other different App Store which has its own holiday shutdown on top of it all.Or not. If you don’t want to read the whole article, from the same day on the same topic, I’ll save you the trouble with this paragraph:
By comparison, the report notes that Google has updated several of its Android apps after December 8, including Google Maps on December 14, Google Duo on December 15, Gmail on December 16, and YouTube on December 21.Somehow, magically, the “holiday code freeze” only applied to iOS apps, not Android, and only after the deadline for privacy tags. Imagine that.
Wow it's almost like trilion dollar companies have different teams working on different platforms with different schedules.Or not. If you don’t want to read the whole article, from the same day on the same topic, I’ll save you the trouble with this paragraph:
