Google has released an iOS app for its popular Blogger blogging service.
Blogger is available free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. [iTunes]

WordPress has one too. Does anyone *really* use their mobile devices for doing extensive writing? I'd seriously like to know - I've tried using my iPad but man is it ever hard to do. Hard to keep that creative flow going when you have to keep backing up to correct mistakes.

I've been waiting for this for years now. Every other major blogging service has one - tumblr, WordPress. Glad to see the Blogger department of Google has finally gotten into the game.

I use the iPhone WP App to correct typos and to publish finished articles (if I forget to schedule them).

Blogger is older looking. Wordpress is more flexible.

There apparently isn't an iPad version...

And I do use my iPad to post once I figured out how to work around the issues.

That is one ugly orange interface.

    Great timing

Just downloaded it and I like it. I have just renewed my efforts to post to my blog regularly, and this app works great so far. I admittedly don't have much to compare it to, but it's cool to start a post on my iPhone, then log in and continue the same post on my Macbook and finish up on the iPhone. Don't know if others do that as smoothly as google makes that happen. That's my favorite feature.

Glad there is finally an app for it. There are a couple of things I don't like so far.

    1. Cannot type in landscape
    2. Picture uploads are being centered in the post and not justified left.

Other than that, I like it.

Why isn't this available in iPad format?

If only it came in iPad format. Why did they only release this in iPhone format? Blogging from an iPhone is extremely awkward. The screen is small and the virtual keyboard doesn't lend itself well to lengthy text entry. On the iPad the screen is much larger and you can use a real keyboard. But using an iPhone app on an iPad even in 2x format is lame. There is already BlogPress a competing app that is a combined iPhone and iPad app. It works great! what does Blogger do that BlogPress doesn't?

Use a keyboard with the iPad - it makes ALL the difference! The on-screen keyboard is impossible for writing anything of any length. The keyboard is great!! I love the one I have - Logitech's Zagg keyboard that's aluminum outside and serves as a screen cover when not in use. Barely adds any weight or thickness.

I've written out large emails on my iPod using the BT keyboard that came with my iMac (already had a wired one so it was effectively a spare). The keyboard makes all the difference :).
Infact I like to leave the "sent from my iPod" tag at the bottom of huge emails just for laughs.

This app strikes me as too little, too late, (and too ugly).

Blogging, especially using Blogger, seems so 2005...

I might still be using blogger if Google hadn't removed FTP support.

Does any blog *really* only call for “extensive writing” sessions? ;)

It’s good not to have to wait to make a short but important post or correction.

(P.S. I like the iPad for longer writing... but strangely, only in portrait mode. This app, though is for iPhone.)
