Google Releases Location Discovery App 'Field Trip' on iOS

Shame this can't be downloaded outside the US but maybe that's a good thing, reports are it drains your battery, like we need another app doing that. I left Google Maps running when I first got it and the next morning my phone was dead.

Will be trying it out today. Should be interesting.

Doesn't overly drain the battery on my Nexus 7 so I'll be interested to see how the iPhone holds up, especially since I've seen better battery life on it usually.

Hmm, I did a quick search and found the following review which shows a couple ways of interacting with the app. One of which is like taking a look at you maps app so that wouldn't use any battery more than usual.

In this review he noted "some drain" but the user experience with it more than made up for it.

I think this app has a lot of potential, maybe Apple Maps will come up with something similar added-on in the future.

In Germany it's not available either…

i got it from US Store, tried to use it here - but it contains almost only POIs in Berlin
