This is essentially why I've never understood or really used Google docs. I want fully OFFLINE docs, that I store locally (with or without cloud sync, in addition).

With Apple iWork and MS Office, you can pretty much do this. Edit in non-web standalone apps AND/OR web-app, as you choose.

I suspect the new PWA's (Progressive Web Apps) may be copying this, or even something entirely different??
With Google, who knows. :-/

I did this recently and used Firefox Quantum (what they're calling the new firefox) - and it is VERY usable, very nice, and very fast. Only thing I had to get used to was downloading Adobe Flash for the sites that needed flash. I'm back to Chrome tho but - Firefox is a good replacement atm.

Sounds good! I have been using it on my work PC recently and found it quite excellent to use; some websites even worked on it but not on Chrome

May I know why you went back to Chrome though?

Got tired of activating flash for all the sites that I use. That and I have used Chrome since the day it came out so it was a little easier to use. I often force myself to use other software every now and then just so I know about it and keep up to date with what is out there. But honestly, I could go back to Firefox tomorrow and I'd be happy. I really don't have a good reason for using Chrome over Firefox.

Google has shuttered the Chrome Apps section...

Article Link: Google Removes Chrome Apps Section From the Chrome Browser Web Store

Shuttered!? Shuttered is a word?

Maybe real words like, 'closed', 'terminated', or here's one, 'shut' might be a better choice for a word that doesn't exist? Or were' you getting confused with 'shattered'?

(so it's a chiefly North American word - typical)

Ah I see, I think the Flash issue will not be a problem for my case but thanks for the heads up! And yeah, good idea to keep up with trends by playing around with different stuff (not just software), this is a good idea for someone working in tech like me :)
