With all due respect, I find Siri appalling on a daily basis. Its capabilities are woefully limited & since a few years after its launch - when it was vaguely cool - it’s been one of the weakest parts of the iPhone experience.
Well said, I concur.

I generally like to give Apple the benefit of the doubt, but years upon years of subpar experience with Siri has resulted in a breakdown of my trust in the Cupertino Company.

In addition as the old saying goes, repeat the same thing over and over long enough and people will believe it.

Therefore the statement “Apple doesn't harvest user data for profit” is beginning to seem suspect. They might not sell users data, but it’s nearly impossible to believe they don’t collect it. Somehow it’s hard to believe they’re that virtuous.

It’s a good point you make.

I trust Apple regarding privacy but on thinking about what you said, really the trust is based on my brand image of them and Apple’s own marketing and PR.

As far as I know they don’t let any white hat hackers or security companies verify their privacy claims. We just have to trust them because they say they’re the good guys.

But they also said that Apple Intelligence and Siri were going to be able to proactively help you with your life due to AI magic in June 2024 with iOS 18. And that’s still not happened.

So it seems like we can’t trust everything that Apple says. Maybe my phone is not so private as they claim.
