Google's relevant ads stink. I am a bankruptcy attorney. I get lots of ads asking me if I want to file bankruptcy or need help with other debt issues. I also get ads regarding whether I want to go to law school.

Bankruptcy may be the answer. :D

Ads foreseen

Google Maps now deleted from my iPhone.

I too knew this was coming, so I never "re-installed" google maps when it was removed from my phone a few updates ago. Thankfully, my areas too have been pretty flawless on Apple Maps.

Same here. I will pay whatever it takes not to see that crap. That is the reason I returned the android phone.

And by "targeted" you mean you are the product that Google is making money off, using your location, and God only knows what other information

Same. Bigger screen would make me happy again

If you want a "tablet", buy a tablet; as for me, I like the size of the iPhones.

Really. Who didn't see this coming.

Suddenly became a lot more interested in revisiting Apple's maps app.....

I get that I'm in the minority on this, but I'd rather pay for a maps app or use Apple's "evolving" Maps rather than being force fed ads by Google. Luckily we have those options.

You may be less in the minority than you think. Google gets more obnoxious by the day.

GOOGLE is counting on people's unhappiness with APPLE's Maps, to get away with this. With the ongoing and continuing improvements to :apple:Maps, I see more and more positive comments about it, and GOOGLE may find that it overestimated people's displeasure with :apple:Maps, and that more people than expected, are loathing GOOGLE's ads more, than some shortcomings in their competitor's Maps app.

I guess they have to make money somehow. In sure it cost them a lot photographing the whole planet!

Having said that, this will suck.

I'm sure with all the selling of our personal data, like locations, search interests, etc, on top of the ad services, they are more than substantially profiting from it all, even after "photographing the whole planet".

too bad i dont use google maps, there are better alternatives (atleast in my view), i always hated this theme of google maps, really confusing and boring.

This is true. The cloud services and free email providing is going to bite us all one day (and already essentially is).

So they clandestinely baked this into their app, only to flip the switch later after that version is widely deployed, and the "announcement" comes via their Adsense blog...

And yet another reason why I love Apple Maps. :D

Can't wait to have it in OS X this fall too.

I already feel like I'm compromising and sacrificing by watching the ads before YouTube videos, and the "skip ad" button is the only reason I keep using YouTube. It's probably the only way to find a middle ground between free ad-supported content and not watching those ads.

Tell me about it. Actually, there was an aggressive push on the movie "Two Guns" last week I believe and a short trailer played before each and every YouTube video I viewed. But what made it really annoying was that they removed the "skip ad" this time around.

YouTube is the last reminding Google app and service that I use today and I swear I am this close to finally getting rid of it and being completely free of this marketing hell that is Google.
