Android is actually slicker than Apple and you get quality of life customisation. Samsung and Pixel are A+ phones and Apple is definitely B- nowadays. There isn't really a debate to be had anymore.

Yes... My iPhone 6s hasn't been turned on for almost a year and I haven't used my iPad either. Now day is Android + Windows 10 and Linux Mint
I haven't been with android...what's one thing you like about it? By the way..how's the security?

If it doesn't have a headphone jack, I'm not interested.
I was waiting until the rumours became too prolific for it not to be true. It's why last month I bought the Mk1 Pixel on 20% off deal. Very pleased with it I am too.

If however Google want to be even remotely taken seriously, they need to sort out their supply chain issues. Every year they have been dreadful (nexus etc..), regardless of which manufacturer they used. Pixel mk1 supply has been in a league of its own though when it comes to being awful.

It has however shown me the most likely reason why Apple have their cameras now protruding.

Damn you apple for putting me in this pickle.
Do I want to switch phones? Yes. I need to replace my aging 6+. But this years iPhones are so meh. I don't want to deal with Android, and sell my soul to google either. Uggggggh

I'm in a similar situation. Need to replace my phone but none of the offerings really have my attention and I'm not spending a grand on a phone that can't even survive being dropped.

I'd really love to see a nice looking phone like the S8 or the Note 8 with base Android. This particular model doesn't really appeal to me much.

People are looking to get the X because they are sick of the 6/6s/7/8 form-factor ..... so why would they possibly consider going to a cheap rip-off of the 6/6s/7/8 form-factor?

So many opinions presented as facts, not a good start.

I'm sure some are sick of the form factor and will look to the X. Many, quite likely a majority but I'm speculating here, will balk at its price and lack of TouchID.
Are you sure the next Pixel(s) will be a similar form factor to the 6/6S/7/8 family. Rumours are of slimmer bezels and more of an LG aesthetic - at least on the XL model.
Lastly, it won't likely be a cheap rip-off; these devices were actually quite pricey in 2016.

If you're going to be an unabashed Apple sycophant, at least be factual and/or rational.

If I had to purchase an android-based device, it would be the Google Pixel. The first Google Pixel was actually built really well and it had some nice functions that I really liked that it presented.

I've done both and Android 7 is quite good, better than iOS in many respects, worse in others.

No doubt you are right but at the same time I have no idea why customers would care so much about "form factor" being similar from year to year. There is only so much designers can do with shape, one side is a display, has to have places for sensors... and 95% of the time it goes in a case seconds after purchase.

Plenty of things to do. Look at the various Android handsets. Plenty of variety there. Heck, my ZTE Axon 7 has the same screen size as my 6+, better front firing speakers, and is a hair bigger than the wife's 6s. Samsung's designs seem decent too.

The only problem I have with Android is the lack of reliable and consistent software update policy. Google Pixel is the only "game-changer" here, they're first to get new Android updates and they may be more consistent than any other Android OEMs at this moment.

iOS? I still use my iPhone 5S and still getting iOS 11. I got what I paid for, reliable hardware that worked with long software support. No single Android device did that for me, I'll be happy to take Galaxy or Pixel as long as they will last me 4-5 years for the price they're asking for. Heck, my previous Nexus devices barely lasted a year before having to return it for repair.

I feel you brother I'm in even tougher with an even older 5S that barely has a battery life anymore and Nexus 6p that is getting long in the tooth and doesn't perform much faster than the 5S (5S is my daily driver because I got tired of how big the 6P was in my pocket) I think I like the look of the 7 in matte black better than the new 8 though tough to say not seeing it in real life. Seems like a used 7 or 7 on a two contract are probably going to be the best value for awhile but the X would be pretty future proof and I mean edge to edge display is pretty sweet but price and not knowing what possible issues (I've heard the brightness of the display is an early concern) makes it a bit scary to place a pre order especially if you are signing up for a contract.

Have you played with iP7 at the Apple Store? I felt 7 was too big for me as well compared to 5S.

I'm waiting for my 5S to die before I decide on anything else but if it was to die now, only one option or me; new SE for 350$. It dropped by 50$ recently. 5S body with 6S internals and longer battery life than iP7+ for 350 is still a good deal.

The benefit of getting SE is that X can be given two generations to iterate before I'd consider it, the notch and iOS + iOS apps will take a few years to adjust, plus X will be cheaper by then. Nothing to adjust for SE if you already have 5S. Not to mention we can see if Google would do what other OEMs can't, provide 4+ years of software support to their Pixel smartphones.

Ya the SE is also on my shopping but it starts at $469 here in Canada and the sales tax pushes in my province is 12% so it starts to get pricey for now two year old internals plus I need more than 32GB of space and 128 jumps up to $599. I also find the 7/X size is the goldilocks of phone sizes. Not too big not too small. I owned a 6 when it first came out felt the was was comfortable. I don't like typing on the 5s. Find the keyboard a little small. Great device though especially build quality and pocket wise.

Because it's possible that users are being realistic about their money. They have bills to pay as well.
Err, have you looked at the Pixel prices? They are the same as the previous iPhone price points (starting at $649), and they are not even water resistant (compared to iPhone 7).

So same price as iPhones for less hardware and support.... Gee, sign me up? /s
[doublepost=1505411422][/doublepost]At this point, the Pixel 2 will be a "joke" if Google keeps it the same price as iPhones.
Seriously, it performs less (Snapdragon 835 is the fastest on Android camp, and it cannot even beat the A10), gimmick features (if it follows the squeeze gimmick from HTC), less support (Google only guarantee 2 years of updates, no Google store to go to, no international warranty), and Google still mine your personal information. For same price as Apple?

And people think Apple is greedy?

Heck, my previous Nexus devices barely lasted a year before having to return it for repair.
That's strange. We have all the Nexus devices since One and, aged batteries and technical obsolescence aside, they still all work perfectly.

Pixel is not actually a "game-changer." It's just Google wanting more profits from the Nexus concept.
Google only guarantees 2 years of updates for the Pixel, with the same price as iPhone (previous price point, $649). How is that "game changer"? :D

That's called cutting off your nose to spite your face. Use the adapter that comes with every new iPhone without a headphone jack. Done.

So iPhone should also be free

That's not how the iPhone works, nor Apple. You pay Apple up front and the transaction is over and done with. You get something from Google for "free" but they sell your data to the highest bidder.
