Look under my avatar. I'm more experienced. Heck, I homebrewed my first analog computer in 1965, and took my first university programming courses at UNC in 1971. Likewise about fifteen years ago, I was the ISO9000 implementer for an R&D lab at one of the country's largest telecoms. I know what it means and does not mean.

I also know (as any programmer does) that yes, a single person can make a mistake that ends up being released.

Of course it SHOULD have never happened. However, the REALITY is that such idiotic bugs DO happen more than they should.

Unless you also want to claim that companies like Apple have never constantly let out ridiculously easy to-test-for bugs (*cough* daylight savings time glitches *cough*). Not to mention even far stricter places like NASA and their infamous imperial vs metric goof that cost an entire Mars probe.

Moreover, ISO 9000 certification doesn't change that reality. The sheer fact that you tried to bring up that as some magical fixer, makes me wonder if you're a manager instead of a coder. Because a coder knows better than that.

Look, we understand that you're angry that your iOS apps showed up with single stars for a few weeks, but you're grasping at straws to turn a coding screwup into a conspiracy -- without providing the faintest realistic reason why such a conspiracy would even be attempted, especially since it could only work for a short while at most.

I have 5 iOS apps in the store of my own creation (and have contributed to several others). My latest app hit the store in early October. After a year of development and significant cash investment on art, etc (>10k), YES it is frustrating to see such a stupid bug from google, which inaccurately represents my product. The most frustrating part is that there was NO way to directly report this to google as a bug (as I explained in my earlier post). google really puts on a different face from their "don't be evil" garbage in this situation. I've just been down that road, and you want to tell me "we understand" I'm angry, but then say I shouldn't be by this? Do you always refer to yourself as 'we'?

Do you have any idea of how search engine discoverability and presentation affects small business? Do you even understand the information age? Or do you create some obscure tech that flushes toilets via a touch screen? Why can't you be proud of your tech accomplishments and just stay out of this?

And are you so naive that you believe that the google vs apple battle is a milk-toast-gentlemenly game of sport? Really?

I did see your avatar, which indicates you have ABSOLUTELY ZERO association with this issue or industry.

So, what kind of sick fool are you to come in here and tell me ANYTHING about this? Why don't you go blow hard on whatever forums are relevant to your industry? Do you really need to make yourself feel significant by commenting on subjects that you have zero association with?

Maybe you are a google sycophant? I'm sure there are many ways to kiss their bum online if you look around.

I'm sure that whatever you do is boring, but yields a nice comfy paycheck, so just go sit at your desk, and collect that paycheck and leave other people alone.

Nobody said you shouldn't be angry at the negative affect on your business. But that does not give you the right to be a jerk to those who disagree with your claims of a conspiracy.

Except for the way that you respond online with personal attacks, I'm sympathetic with your situation. I know how hard it can be. I first started selling personal computer software back in the early 80s, when software piracy and retailer under-reporting really cut into any profit. Not to mention attempted negative PR from competitors.

However, claiming that this instance was a deliberate bug makes no sense. There was nothing to gain by it. For one thing, it was something that would be instantly spotted and publicized, hardly the hallmark of a conspiracy. For another, it shows a major mistake in the search results, which is the last thing Google would want.

So, no, I don't think it smacks of a conspiracy, any more than Apple's or anyone else's major coding goofs have been conspiracies. That's why I've likewise defended Apple, and pointed out that such mistakes unfortunately sometimes get out.

I never claimed this was a deliberate bug. My accusation is that the bug demonstrates a lack of diligence on Google's part that rises to negligence, given their position in the industry, and hiring practices. I also criticized their lack of providing a succinct way to report the bug. It is not acceptable to require joining a public forum, which requires a gmail account to report a problem with their product - especially when their product defames my product.

You're the one out of line here because you really have no direct connection to this issue. Yet you claim "you understand", when you have absolutely NO relevant knowledge or experience to related to this issue. I don't care what you were doing in the 1980s - this is 2015, and you have no demonstrable knowledge related to the app market TODAY.

Like I said, go troll forums related to whatever you do, instead of trying to make yourself feel relevant by bothering us here - because you are completely irrelevant in this forum.

Well it's past 'the middle of next week' now, and our apps 'Portfolio Trader' and 'Portfolio Trader Lite' are both still showing 1 star, despite having 4 or 5 star averages on most app stores for a long time now.

Quite frustrating that something so important (and seemingly simple) is still unresolved...
