Google plans to unveil its latest Pixel smartphones at an event that will take place on Wednesday, August 20. Google's new devices will be introduced just a few weeks before we're expecting Apple to unveil its latest iPhone models.

Google's lineup is expected to feature the company's latest foldable smartphone, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. There will also be a Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, for a four-device smartphone lineup.

Rumors suggest that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold won't be as thin and light as Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold7, but Google might be first to improved weatherproofing for a foldable smartphone. The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold could have an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, which would make it superior to the Z Fold7's IP48 water and dust resistance.

Few other changes are expected, but the display will increase in size a bit, and it might be a little brighter. Google is also going to add a bigger battery for some modest battery life improvements.

The new Google foldable will have a faster 3-nanometer Tensor G5 chip, as will the rest of the Pixel 10 smartphones that are in development. The G5 will be manufactured by TSMC instead of Samsung, which should bring notable improvements over last year's G4. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL aren't going to see major design or size changes, and they'll be similar to last year's Pixel lineup. Google is also expected to unveil new AI features, specifically AI photo editing options.

Google's Pixel 10 devices will compete with Apple's iPhone 17 models, though Apple won't have a foldable device until next year at the earliest.

This announcement is going to be all about the AI. Pixie Sense or Magic Cue or whatever they decide to call it. Expect a More Personal Gemini.

So people are (understandably) making fun of Apple taking the camera bar design in the 17-series from Pixel.

But not a peep about Google taking the rounded corners and square camera block in one corner from iPhones?

Can we get an option in the pixel camera (and iPhone) to have a mode where it takes pictures and videos from both front and back cameras? That's a feature that's been on Samsung that I have missed on pixel and iPhone. Although on iPhone there's a relatively good dual camera third party app, that feels relatively native, on pixel, the app "mixcam" works, but could use some polish. However, it would be nice if they could bring the functionality to the native camera apps, like Samsung does.

Exactly this! People are too biased when it comes to Android phones and criticize Apple for no logical reason, but when Apple sets a trend for something and others make fun of Apple, the joke is on them when other companies follow suit. Makes no sense, lol.

I’ve actually been considering a switch to android lately but Google’s heavy handed Gemini push has me backing away. Apple has its problems too but they let me turn that **** completely off and I want that more than I want a foldable.

We shall see, right? There's some potential here, but ya never know.

Love my Macbook, iPad and Pixel.

I'd rather go back to a 5yr old android than use an iPhone. Its just soo limiting and annoying to use. I cant clone apps, I cant theme things how I like. I feel like I've gone backwards to 2018 every time I have to use one to support someone at work. I dont care how the device looks. I care how it WORKS and iOS just feels so out of date on a small device just as how Android feels out of date on a larger tablet.

Heck people laughed at foldables and now 6yrs later Apples finally going to bring one out soon. Just another example of how they are playing catchup right now.

My wife will be glad to hear this. She's been waiting for a Pixel 10PXL announcement. Her P6P still works fine, but she's ready for an upgrade.

My wife had a Pixel 2 until she upgraded to the 8 about a year a half ago. Asked her about this and she has no interest; said she wants to keep her 8 as long as she kept the 2.

If I decide to leave the iPhone world, Pixel will be my next choice.

What I was thinking too, sort of. Hey Pixel 10? Let’s upgrade the wife to a 8 or 9 Pro, from her 7 Pro they she loves very much. Mostly for its camera.

That looks worse than the 17. Why is the bump still a thing. If someone could just do the simple thing and bring out a flat back phone

Oddly, my wife barely used her camera until our first grandchild came along late last year. Now that she's using it more she wants the latest and greatest.

I used Pixel phones before moving to a Z Flip4, then to my current 16PM last November. Loved the Pixel experience.
