So google is changing to the Iphone camera bump and Iphone is changing to the google camera bump?

Google plans to unveil its latest Pixel smartphones at an event that will take place on Wednesday, August 20. Google's new devices will be introduced just a few weeks before we're expecting Apple to unveil its latest iPhone models.

Google's lineup is expected to feature the company's latest foldable smartphone, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold. There will also be a Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, for a four-device smartphone lineup.

Rumors suggest that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold won't be as thin and light as Samsung's latest Galaxy Z Fold7, but Google might be first to improved weatherproofing for a foldable smartphone. The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold could have an IP68 water and dust resistance rating, which would make it superior to the Z Fold7's IP48 water and dust resistance.

Few other changes are expected, but the display will increase in size a bit, and it might be a little brighter. Google is also going to add a bigger battery for some modest battery life improvements.

The new Google foldable will have a faster 3-nanometer Tensor G5 chip, as will the rest of the Pixel 10 smartphones that are in development. The G5 will be manufactured by TSMC instead of Samsung, which should bring notable improvements over last year's G4. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL aren't going to see major design or size changes, and they'll be similar to last year's Pixel lineup. Google is also expected to unveil new AI features, specifically AI photo editing options.

Google's Pixel 10 devices will compete with Apple's iPhone 17 models, though Apple won't have a foldable device until next year at the earliest.

I need LESS Google in my life.

That looks worse than the 17. Why is the bump still a thing. If someone could just do the simple thing and bring out a flat back phone
The thickness of a phone is determined by the camera.

To have no camera bump would mean a VERY thick phone, or a normal sized phone with a terrible camera.

So people are (understandably) making fun of Apple taking the camera bar design in the 17-series from Pixel.

But not a peep about Google taking the rounded corners and square camera block in one corner from iPhones?
I think it's because the camera bump is usually the identity of the phone. I am an Android user and many phones are recognizable from the bump alone. There is some discussion about the shape of the phone, but it usually isn't a talking point. The corner camera bump for the camera is only on the Pixel Fold which I don't think is a widely used device.

When I saw the design for the Pixel 9 Pro, first thing I thought was that it looked like the Apple phone and I was thrilled. I actually really like the design of the current iPhone with the round corners and flat edges - and it has great build quality. That transferred over to the Pixel 9 Pro - it feels great in the hand.

I love the camera bump for my Pixel, but think this iPhone one is hideous. I feel like it has too much wasted space in it. That is the best way I can describe it.

Competition is good right ?
If Google does innovate then expect Apple to follow and vice versa. Who would want it any other way ?
I think the pixel line up leads in a few areas as does Samsung and now Motorola with the Razr Ultra Flip (no competition for this form factor from Apple)

We all know Apple is lagging in AI too (love it or hate it, still lagging).

Will Apple do enough with the 17 series to keep me in their camp. Honestly not sure at this point. If anything their Series 10 watch that I own is more of a tether to the Apple ecosystem since it wouldn’t work on an android phone.

So looking forward to Aug to see what the pixels have to offer.

I'd rather go back to a 5yr old android than use an iPhone. Its just soo limiting and annoying to use. I cant clone apps, I cant theme things how I like.

I am in the opposite camp: I would love to leave Apple (phones), but don't like the user experience of Android.

I'm very tempted by Sony's latest Xperia VII, with its 5,000mah battery, SD card with no overpriced memory upgrades, headphone jack, periscope zoom camera, and notchless display. I also assume it has something better than Siri.

But I just can't give up the integration across MacOS, Airdrop, or iMessage. Plus I just don't "like" how Android works, and have always found it takes far too many clicks or swipes to accomplish what I can do easily on my iphone. And there are still some ios apps that Android lacks (Overcast, or a good weather app).

I have never once wanted to "clone an app" or use crazy themes. Of course, I don't expect everyone to prefer *any* company's way of doing things. Choices are good. I even liked when we had the option of Blackberry and Windows Phone.

So I'll probably go with a 16e just to stay in the ecosystem.

Not true…iPhone air will be 3 mm thinner than the current 8mm. Use same chassis and you have a 8mm flat phone…simple
