Nearly five months after the release of iOS 13, Google has finally updated its Translate app with Dark Mode support on the iPhone and iPad, although the color scheme is dark gray rather than true black.

Dark Mode in the Google Translate app is tied to the system-level appearance selected in Settings > Display & Brightness > Appearance.

Google has been slowly adding Dark Mode support to its iOS apps, but the option is still not available for all Gmail app users.

Google Translate is a free download on the App Store.

Meanwhile... my gmail still doesn’t have dark mode rolled out to it...which I just don’t understand.
I get a slow roll out but my wife had access to it almost immediately and that was in December when they started rolling it out.

Same here. It’s frustrating, and I’ve wasted hours looking for a solution.

Well it took five months just to get something simple like translate updated. I can only imagine how long something more complicated like gmail might take. Maybe next year?

It’s already been updated - it’s just a server side toggle that they’re not rolling out all at once. I get that as a developer, but usually phased releases last a couple weeks, maybe a month for something really complex. But a >3 month phased release for dark mode? Come on.

A/B testing at its best. Companies afraid to have opinion, to take risks and to ship opionated products. At least Apple doesn't use public A/B testing, except maybe when it's not visible to the user (APFS).

I don’t really think supporting an OS level feature that users expect to have at this point is very opinionated. Maybe arrogant.

Gotcha. Maybe they’re getting bad feedback and intend on make further changes? Something’s going on, they’re intentionally pausing or at least slow-rolling the rollout. In any case, it doesn’t seem like a high priority.

Was expecting this the second I saw the title of this thread. I have long left for Outlook between buggy Apple and this stupid ABCD rollout crap by GMail and the tease with the dark mode splash screen. I won't even return to GMail anymore if Dark Mode goes universal.

My company uses GSuite for business so I’m kind of stuck 😥

My gmail has dark mode, I wonder why it’s taking longer for others
